If your complaint is simply that the game isn't in Folsom, RG has been perfectly clear that season ticket holders can expect 6 home games per season. That's what you're getting plus the opportunity at first crack at tickets vs. an SEC opponent within an hour's drive.

The CSU game was not part of the season ticket package. We had to pay extra. Also, it's dumb to arbitrarily limit home games to six. Especially in favor of stupid EMPOWERRRR.

Go roller blade around central park or something.

I thought upper decker seats were included but also came with 2 options. 1) trade in for credit to another home game's tickets, or 2) use as credit and upgrade to better seats within the stadium.

The upper deck seats were just a trap to force you to upgrade. I think the trade in credit came in later, but my memory is fuzzy on when that started. They were worth an upper decker in a frat house.

Again moving this to Denver is the only way this game stays on next season. Complain about RG’s contract skills, but the contract to play them was signed in 2015 and I’m pretty sure no one thought back then that a worldwide pandemic would cancel the 2020 game and trigger some of the contract nuances.

Buff fans are never happy.

This was not a contract nuance. There was always a good chance it would be moved, COVID notwithstanding.

Doesn’t need to be a sellout to be a huge jump in attendance. CU/CSU in Denver regularly sells 65-75k which is way more than Folsom holds. I expect the A&M game in September to sell well over Folsom’s capacity (assuming there are no COVID capacity restrictions at that point).

It probably should be TBH. This program needs money and apparently there are too many fans who would rather cash in on their tickets by selling them to road team fans. If we’re going to play a “home” game with 70% of the stadium full of road team fans, we might as well do it in Denver so the AD gets that money instead of season ticket scalpers.

So long as drawing more people than in Folsom is the only consideration, it should be done yearly, maybe even more than once.

It’s pretty obviously about money and I suspect the 2019 Nebraska game was eye opening for the CU AD. How much more money would they have made with that game in Denver?

You are making the case the game should be in Folsom - I agree that under normal circumstances the atmosphere and fan experience is better on campus - but if half the season ticket holders are going to sell their tickets to road fans for profit, that goes out the window. The school loses money, our fans are more inclined to cash in and watch from their couch, and the atmosphere sucks. That 2019 Nebraska game was awesome because we got the win, but the atmosphere in the stadium and on campus that day was awful.

I believe completely that the 2019 Nub game weighed heavily in this decision.

Not really. Certainly hyperbolic, but just playing out the logic. If the program wants to make a lot of money short-term, body bag games are the way to go. Occasionally moving a game to Denver is just half-assed.

When this game was scheduled 5 years ago I’m guessing RG underestimated Buff fans willingness to skip a home game at Folsom against a premium opponent.

If 35,000 road fans are coming to this game wherever it’s held, better to play it in Denver where the AD makes the money selling those tickets to A&M than selling discount tickets to CU season ticket holders so they can flip for a profit. The calculus here is that the AD can make more money off the road team than CU fans when it’s a marquee opponent who travels.

I think you see one of two things going forward:
1) Big name programs whose fans travel (Bama, Michigan, Florida, etc) - game in Denver.
2) Other P5 team who doesn’t travel as well (Minnesota, Missouri, etc) - game in Folsom.
 
VT message boards reflect the sentiment that playing a game in an NFL staidum at least once every four years is a recruiting selling point. I'm feeling that Allbuffs doesn't see it the same.

once every 4 years isn't a horrible idea. That's not the pace we are on, although that hopefully changes quickly.

This is why I never understood the hate for the RMS. It's a game a year in an NFL stadium against a team we should beat. It's a great atmosphere and seems like a good start to the season. I'd think it'd be a great pitch.
 
I hope we can at least paint COLORADO in the endzone or something to get some nice visuals, as well as spend some money on banners to make it feel like Folsom.

SEC schedule opens with 3 Power 5 matchups

The SEC football schedule release on Wednesday featured the return of nonconference games and an opening-day slate on Sept. 4 that includes Power 5 matchups LSU at UCLA, Georgia vs. Clemson, and Miami vs. Alabama.

If we see another Nebraska type of ticket selling again, I wouldn't blame the AD in the least to schedule as many neutral site games as possible. At that point, season ticket holders are letting the AD know their true thoughts on marquee matchups.
