2025 NCAA Tournament Games Thread

So far Memphis not letting Nique Clifford do much. 1-5 from the floor 2 rbs, 2 assist isn't much of a game for a guy being touted as an NBA draft pick.

Considering that kind of game from him Memphis can't be happy with the game being this close.

Nique hasn't shot the ball well today but his defense has been impressive

CSU still lost to us by 17 and their coach is GONE 24 hours after they get bumped this weekend.

BTW, guy I work with has a kid at GCU. For $28 the school provided them with a flight, tickets and (if they win today) hotel until the next game.

I didn’t realize ADs could support student sections.

My dental hygienist's daughter was a student at Davidson back during their run to the Elite 8 and she was telling me the school offered a free bus ride, hotel and tickets to the games in Detroit for any student that wanted to go. I couldn't believe that but pretty damm cool.

It’s almost as if spending a small amount of cash not only increases the crowd quality for your team (and improving your teams odds of winning - even slightly) but also leads to more money in the future as those fans eventually get real jobs and have money they want to throw at things that have an emotional attachment.

Big, if true.

Ole Miss trying to slow it down a little too much and often ending up with a bad shot. And of course UNC getting some calls

Yeah, but I forgot to change my bracket once SDSU lost to UNC and I had them going decently far so I’m ok with these calls for once.

How does Ole Miss not just fly Marshall Henderson to every game of theirs?

Well, Davidson is a small school so that helps. But yea they likely saw the advantage of doing something like this especially for a small conference school where having both a player like Steph and a run to the Elite 8 is a once in a lifetime thing.

And CSU beat CU a year ago when Boyle had supposedly his best team. Medved can coach circles around Boyle. And it's funny how Medved did not need a big pot of NIL$ to find an excellent PG.

Don't know about y'all, but I'm tired of this fvcking shoot a three and fall down bullshvt like you got hit by a fvcking rpg. It's not basketball, it's crap.

I heard someone say the other day that the refs who will move on to subsequent rounds in this tournament are the ones that won't become the story. In other words:
Let. Them. Play.

I've been to Detroit. Free is still overpriced. :ROFLMAO:

Actually, and I wish RG would figure this out, these kinds of things pay off for schools.

They create a sense of community, of belonging at the school. Even the students who don't go hear about it and get positive vibes.

Bigger, and this is a long term view so a lot of administrators don't worry about it, these are the kinds of experiences that turn current students into future promoters of the school and future donors.

For a school like Davidson it doesn't take a lot of these students being future supporters to make a difference.

I saw posted on a Reddit thread that CSU has the chance to be the first team from the state of Colorado represented in the Sweet 16 since the tourney was expanded to 64 teams. How is this possible?! CU has never made the S16 in that time span?! I guess I just kinda assumed it has happened at least once during the Tad era, maybe back with Chauncey or something, idk. Another post says that the only other power conference teams without a S16 appearance are SMU, TCU, Rutgers, UCF, Nebraska, and Northwestern. That is some really undesirable company to be in. CU needs to **** or get off the pot when it comes to basketball; this is sad Ralphie. Go Buffs

Disagree. CSU has much better point guard play and shooters. Incredible talent evaluation by Medved.
So, your take is that the more talented and better coached team only beats an opponent that's missing its best player and ice cold from 3... by 8 points?

That is correct, CU has never made the Sweet 16 in the modern era, which is since the tournament expanded to 64 in mid-80's. In fact I'm pretty sure we haven't made the round of 16 since the late 60's when only like 24 or 32 teams made the tournament
