22-23 Transfer Portal and General Recruiting Catch-All Thread

I may be the only fan who thought that when the coaches said stuff like, "we need 5 vacancies at your position", they were indicating they had commitments ready to fill those vacancies.
I've been a bit underwhelmed since the spring game.

We're in on a bunch of really good dudes. What are you underwhelmed by?

Yeah, the Buffs currently have two five stars on the roster and another one that should be here in a few weeks. There are only three other 5 star recruits for CU in the 24/7 database before Prime.

I don’t see how that’s underwhelming.

Even with the open spots this is probably the most talented team since the early 00’s.

Do you need 85 scholarship dudes with the portal? Your scout/development guys are getting in work at someone’s program and will just portal in next season

You need close to have scout team and practice players, but walkons can help some.

NFL has active roster, practice squad and if they have injuries, they just sign more. Can’t do that in CFB during the season.

Deion has brought in 20 guys since he took over that were 4 or 5 * recruits. When is the last time we had that kind of pedigree on our roster?

Ok
So in the “old” days you were building classes and players rarely left
Now, if you are 3 deep at every spot minimum (75) you have a good squad
My point is that nothing is the same anymore. Might as well go sign up some area D3’s and D2’s as your farm system and help with funding

Grad transfers and (maybe) juco transfers have no portal windows. I am thrilled we are taking pieces now, and seem set to have wiggle room in the fall for depth or injury based need. We're in with the big boys now and can't win every battle. Haven't seen the flood I would have enjoyed after the spring game, but happy with what we are getting.

JUCO transfers don't have a window, at least when they are graduates. I think that's the purpose of one of the CU football camp events this month - kind of a tryout to earn a CU scholarship for JC grads who haven't landed anywhere.

Must be confident in his ability to compete. Gotta like that. Programs like Alabama, loaded at every position, still get guys who know they can compete, and earn a spot.
The difference at Alabama is they get elite prospects and players in high school, build a pipeline of talent, and the ones who don’t see much playing time in the first couple years usually transfer. Any one or two year guys who transfer into Alabama are known dudes who are going to play.

CU is bringing in a bunch of upper classmen with a year or two of eligibility who ALL expect to or think they can start immediately. It’s a gamble for a lot of them
