22-23 Transfer Portal and General Recruiting Catch-All Thread

All else equal I'll take speed but yeah..

We might have a heck of a rotation at some spots allowing for rest and depth in the defense. Does anyone else think we need to see a few more 4 star former freshman and sophomores fill in some gaps where they are going to have to wait a season before playing? Also, I think at some point we need to pull in an experienced backup QB or the season is a punt if Sanders goes out for any extended period of time. Or are the incoming Freshman just that good that I'm overthinking the clipboard position?

Nice. I believe at are at 70 so 15 short. Need more numbers so depth doesn’t become a problem

So if we add Shone Washington as well, we will have a roster with basically no weak spots other than depth?

Huh? We’ve got some good players in the portal. But we’ve also got lots of mediocre players or players with potential but who are unproven. How does that equate to “basically no weak spots?” This is the bigbang logic of simply having players on your roster equals no holes.

The WR transfers from Marshall, Auburn, and Baylor combined have been on college rosters for nine seasons and combined have just 24 career catches.

If Shone Washington commits... Name me one position that you consider weak (as far as starters go). I get we still need some depth, but talent wise we are as strong as we have been at every position over the last twenty years. 2016 had a great defense but if our DL performance well this year, this defense will be better. The roster is chock full of high 3's 4's and 5 stars now.

I wouldn’t say weak, but there are a lot of unproven commodities coming into the team. On paper these players should be an improvement over what we lost, but a lot of them are coming off injuries or were not in line to start on their previous teams.

Some of the sunshine pumpers here are acting like it’s ridiculous to wonder if a lot of these new additions will pan out, and I don’t think it is. Again, I hope they’re studs next year, but for a lot of these guys we don’t know thats necessarily the case.

We are building a whole new roster. Depth pieces are necessary in recruiting. I feel like people are forgetting that expecting a home run every time a player announces.

Those players would probably be slotted in the #3-#6 range on the depth chart right now (assuming Hunter is primarily a CB). Those are essentially starter type roles in a spread throw the ball around offense that we run. They’re not just depth who will rarely see the field.

You are conveniently leaving out the freshman that are coming in.

11 catches in 4 years…is this supposed to be an own? You’re making my point. Have we really upgraded at that position or just changed? Ditto on Horn and Weaver vs. Tyson and MLC.
The worst offense in the country for two straight years and those three couldn’t get on the field. There is a major difference between that and programs like Baylor, Auburn and (to a somewhat lesser extent) Marshall.

I don’t see anyone saying the three newest receivers are ever going to be Biletnikoff candidates or ever DB brought in on the Thorpe watch list, but they are almost all undoubtedly better than what was here. That’s what I think most of the sunshine pumpers are trying to say

How do you know undoubtedly that these guys won’t end up JAGs? I’m not saying they will, and I obviously hope they don’t, but our roster seems like a huge question mark right now.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being a bit hesitant until we actually see these guys on the field.

They might be, but JAG would be an improvement over what this program has had for the past few years
