24-25 MBB Team

Seems like a good hire

If a D lineman would come to CU to be coached by Sapp,
there must be a big man or 2 who'd like to learn from Manning
We still have one scholarship.
Great hire.

Real quick Danny Manning story...

In 1988, at the Seoul Olympics, Team USA basketball was required to go to a local US based military hospital. Danny Manning was an All-American and supposed to be the next great NBA player. Let's just say at the time he was pretty full of himself.
Danny walks into this kids room, not wanting to be there, and says to the little boy with terminal cancer "Hey, I'm Danny Manning" .
The kid looks up and says as he is able to tell that Danny is really genuine or caring "I don't know who you are and don't care to, get out of my room".

Not sure if humbling was the word, but the message did reach Danny Manning and have impact.

Now: Super excited for him to be on the bench and recruiting!!!

I woke up still giddy from from the Manning hire.

The future is bright!

Agreed! Even though there's been a track record of big development in our program between Bari, Bey, Dre making it to the league and Battey, Jelly, heck even Lampkin made a jump over his TCU numbers, there's been players and even higher profile recruits that have stated that having two short assistant coaching bigs in Rohn and Grier might not excite certain players.

Again, I think our big development has been great but having a name and former player with Manning's pedigree is only going to be a plus on recruiting but also coaching the bigs will immediately have his respect as a guy that's done it at the highest level.

Damn, there goes another keyboard. Since we left the Big 12 how many Sweet Sixteens, Elite Eights, Final Fours and Nattys do we have?
Now do Baylor.

Look at our recruits/transfers last year and this year.
Now do Baylor.

I hate those b!tches as much as anyone on here, but let’s not get delusional as to how and where we stack up in the Big12 these days.
Yeah, but between WW2 and when the Buffs left the Big12, Baylor basketball won only two things*: jack and ****.

Daddy’s home.

Got the email this week about ticket renewal in a couple weeks.

I'm gonna pay it. I think it's a better schedule just from the Big 12 vs Pac-12 opponents. But, damn, this is a bit rough when it's not a season I'm confident in resulting in a post-season.

The price per season ticket will be as follows:
  • Floor: $4,500 - 20% increase
  • Courtside: $1,020 - 15% increase
  • Mid-Courtside: $620 - 15% increase
  • Corner Chairbacks: $395 - 14% increase
  • Reserved Bench: $275 - 15% increase

I hope so, but supposedly a wing player is most likely for the last spot, according to Rooney: https://www.buffzone.com/2024/05/06/rooney-cu-buffs-3-extra-points-may-6-2024/
Love the Danny Manning Hire, he was Frosh when Tad was Senior Captain at KU. Manning got a lot of credit for developing Bigs at KU, when they became known as Big Man U. Did great in 2 years at Tulsa, but got overly criticized in 4 years at Wake Forest, kept losing players (14 of them) to pros- which kept him from winning. Briefly Head Coach at Maryland when Turgeon quit. But 2 years as Associate Head Coach at Louisville during Kenny Payne disaster probably hurt his rep. Below are '25 & '26 players they were recruiting at Louisville, per Verbal Commits. Feels like he could help with Chris Nwuli & Brayden Burries (who CU were already in with). Maybe with A'mare Bynum too:1 of the 2 CU '25 offers (other Big PtG Josiah Sanders). PF Bryson Tiller & Huge G/W Tyran Stokes Top-10 types (like SG Burries), so if Manning got traction on any of these guys- that would be amazing! W/F Bynum & 2-Way Open Court Flyer Nwuli most realistic bets?

Feels like Tad worried about being able to guard Big Strong Tough Wings, Big12 so known for. Basking/Rancik/Jaki/Diop with length; but Kossaras/Crawford too thin?

I say top options are:
1) Corey Washington from St Peters; toughness that we may lack there. #7 on 247 Sports ratings of SF transfers.
2) CJ Walker little more size at 6'7. Listed at #12 PF on 247 Sports transfer ratings, but really more of SF.
3) Riley Kugel just de-committed from Kansas; probably too rich for us? But 6'6 NBA Guard prospect, with the most offense of the 3.
4) Tad did have previous contact with Bronny James early on. He's much tougher on D than Felix/Drew likely to be at SF. But again- too rich for our blood?
5) If we stand pat, Tad likely gives scholy to Walk-On Harrison Carrington. We can't take someone that doesn't have higher ceiling than shooter Harrison? Needs D?

BIG12 Update:
Cinci; if don't lose Aziz Bandaogo to NBA, should show-up on some early Top-25 lists? Have 1-2 spots & Need Big?
ASU 1 spot left: Go for yet another PtG or a Big- so 6'8 220 SF Sammie Yeanay doesn't have to play PF (not the worst option for them)?
Utah got it's PtG in Miro Little (backed up by Mason Madsen); still with 2 open spots and no SFs?
TCU committed to their elite guard play- by taking RJ Jones w/ final spot. Two 6'10 Bigs & 4 young/talented SFs- who will need to play-up to PF?
K-State lost Arthur Kaluma for-sure; then just lost out on their Top-2 front-court options. Desperate for multiple guys on Front-court with 4 open spots?
BYU, OSU, Tx Tech, & WV all with 4 open spots too (UCF w/ 3): all of them need multiple players in Front-Court (except Tx Tech; who could probably manage w/ 1)?
West Virginia only team in those 5 w/ early makings of strong roster (20 pt scorers at 1-3 spots), but Tx Tech's D strong enough to rise-up w/ the right Big?
Colorado seems solidly in 2nd Tier (6th-9th place) w/ Cinci, WV, Tx Tech SO FAR!!!!????

Maybe it's just my zip code, but those prices seem like a steal.

It's probably the best value for your live sports entertainment dollar in the Denver super metro. But it's a big percentage hike.

I heard they're also displacing the season ticket holders who have been sitting behind the basket by the tunnel and making that section into some sort of Club Level.

Yes, club seats.    The concept is a joke and those seats will be empty most nights.

SEC just released their MBB's conference opponents. That scheduling is something I think would happen with CU.

Conference play tips off on Saturday, January 4, and runs through Saturday, March 8. Each SEC team plays the other 15 teams at least once during league play. Three teams will be played a second time during the schedule – two which are permanent opponents and one that will change each year.

The three teams CU would play twice likely is KU, KSU, and OSU...that is my opinion.
