I see Benson starting in pretty much all scenarios. With another year of development and a full offseason at guard he can be pretty good. We also need his mean streak. I would have Houston penciled in, but he may struggle to get back with how late his ACL tear came. I also see us hitting the portal for a lineman or 2 and they should be much easier to integrate when we're returning 3ish starters.

Why are we declaring true freshmen the starter in November? OT is the toughest position for freshmen to acclimate to outside of maybe TE. I think he'll be in the 2-deep, but Jordan Seaton shouldn't blind us to the fact that most true freshmen OTs are bad.

That's fair. I like Carde's film and think he'll be great eventually. My thought is we'll actually have a great o-line next year and won't need to start freshmen. I'd love it if these guys can be depth and development guys.

Prime has been consistent in saying he wants freshmen who can contribute from day 1. I don't see that changing. Carde, Gooden and Carroll are all guys who will have an opportunity to start. The difference next year is we'll have enough talent around them that if they're not ready, they won't be forced to play. I expect at least 1 big portal addition on the OL.
Contribute is not the same as starting. Drelon Miller is a good example of this.
And if we get a veteran OL group as talented as Travis, Wester, Jimmy and Sheppard, then the freshmen will be depth pieces. Until that happens, the kids have a legitimate opportunity to start.

Bingo. What Jordan Seaton did this year is not normal. He’s incredible.
Carroll is as good of an IOL prospect as Seaton was as an LT.
Yup. Now if we decided to throw Carroll out at RT, for example, there would probably be early struggles

Why is Harden a lock?
Yeah, I don’t think he is at all. He was much better this year, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he does start, but a lock is a big stretch imo.
Cuz Loadholt likes him. May change with incoming players, but for now word is he is fairly well regarded.
Harden needs to gain 20 lbs.

I don't think Smith is anywhere near a lock. Guy isn't a top 25 recruit. He's a top 400 recruit

Kadyn Proctor was rated higher than Seaton and still struggled. Being a top rated OL doesn’t guarantee success as a freshman.
High school competition level matters
I never said it didn’t. I also know that’s accounted for when guys are rated by the recruiting services.
