Assistants

You are absolutely right they are all coaches in training.
I never said they had aspirations of coaching. I specifically mentioned avenues that are viable options for women in football and sports in general.
Do you think Cymone started out in her current role, or did she take what spots were offered to her and work hard to climb the ladder?

I know its been said that the rumor around Mel and the Assistants was False but do these actions mean that someone thinks there is legitimacy to them? This pivot seems off to me. Must seem off to others or else it would not garner so much attention.

What rumor?

Career football recruiting wonks fit CU.

Mel wanted to attract recruits with football recruiting groupie hotties like many other programs do where he has coached.

Mel's approach works, but it's a ticking time bomb at CU that goes against the university ethos -- especially after 2003.

We will never be a place that has that stuff and does things like having a bunch of hottie female students being given instructions to treat recruits like a Vegas stripper treats a drunk tradeshow attendee. That's the culture at other schools for this stuff.

P.S. Cymone George shouldn't be lumped in with that. She's a football person who happens to be an attractive woman. She is still part of the CU football operations with a new title.

I can't debate much of that-I think Mel's approach works for programs in the SEC and the Big 12.....especially given the vast majority of the schools in those two leagues are located in ****hole towns like Tuscaloosa, Auburn, Oxford, College Station, Waco, Ames, Stillwater, and Lubbock. It doesn't as well in our league now because a fair amount of our schools are in locations that sell themselves. I also think the approach that RG/LC want is what worked under Mac.

What is Mel’s approach that was wrong? I’m lost.

Whoa. Some of those are actually very nice towns A.

I didn't put those labels on them. You just did. I look at it from the Camille Paglia angle -- women have power to influence men by using their attractiveness & preying upon how men are, so they can own that and use that. My less than charitable thoughts are for the men who don't realize they're being played or for adults who direct this play at teenagers.

I don't think that's the approach that fits CU culture if it's the overt strategy. But it does work.
Sorry, but when you described them as unqualified Vegas strippers, whose only role was to use their looks to trick men, I took the liberty of connecting the dots.

Again, with no actual evidence of the role and job these young women performed, I find it really ****ty to make the claims.

One of the few encouraging things I could find on his recruiting ability:

During his tenure, he was a valuable member of the staff, not only on the field, but also as a recruiter, as he was named one of Rivals.com Top 10 recruiters from a non-BCS conference in 2006.

Having trouble generating enthusiasm for Rodrigue. I do want to be fair & give him a chance, but I don't like this hire and think our O staff is light.
Ya, a lot of faith in Embree and TC (assuming he's the QB coach) being elite recruiters and guys that are going to recruit the whole offense like Chev and not just their position. My biggest issues with Chev has OC is it takes away from what he is best at. It's hard to be on the road as much as he was and involved recruiting as many players when you are OC.

If TC McCartney rounds out the offensive staff I’ll be very very disappointed. Basically zero experience (outside of Hagan) across the board.

I view McCartney as a good hire if Dorrell can land him. Certainly qualified and experienced. Now, as to the rest of the O staff I see more questions.

I never said they were unqualified.

They were very qualified for a vision our former coach had. They were given an opportunity to re-apply if they fit what HCKD wanted in recruiting assistants.

What Mel emphasized was attractive young women who were savvy on social media. Basically he wanted Jaeger Girls for CU recruiting.

If you want to believe he was prioritizing the best talent evaluators, you're welcome to that opinion. I'm not going to post what I've heard from whom.

Thank you for your speculation and condescension. I’ll give it all the consideration it deserves.

What were the names of the staff in recruiting? George, Mueller (former equip Mgr) and who else?

Pretty sure the last salary I saw for his at ULL was like $110k/year. Hopefully he is not being paid on par with other P5 OL coaches with experience.

Nothing. I'm not sure its the most effective way to do things here, though. As quirky a town as Boulder can be, it sells itself to a recruit in a way that Tuscaloosa, Stillwater, Waco, and most of the other locations in the Big 12/SEC can't. For example, Stillwater (I suppose you could say this for the vast majority of Oklahoma) is about as much fun as Greeley is.

After Tucker's exit (which makes sense given some of the things I've read on 247 and heard-he basically wanted to schedule like Alabama and UGA do), I think RG is trying to replicate what worked during the glory days. Go get a likable guy with impeccable character who loves CU and Boulder like Dorrell does to be the face of your program, surround him with stud recruiters (Wilson's been out of the college game the last couple years, but from what I've read on here today he was pretty successful during his stint at USC. Chev, Mick, and Martin obviously) and go from there. First thing that came to my mind on Rodrigue was meh. Lets see what he does, but I agree with @Buffnik. Not an exciting resume at all (I can't find any power 5 experience on it) .
