Bowl Games (other than ours) and associated silliness 2024 Plus the Playoffs

2’s chances of popping a 20 yarder against PSU playing pass D are just as good as QB hitting a 20yarder against PSU
And even with the 2 fumbles early less likely to result in a turnover at this point.

Boise waving the white flag. Still passing and hoping for a score but not playing like they think they have a chance to win.

Ever carry counts but if you take out Jeanty's 26 yard run he averaged about 2.6 yards per carry. Not the kind of production that makes a big positive difference in a game.

Jeanty is no Barry Sanders. Sanders ran against Big 8 defenses that were built to stop the run and you don’t see those kind of defenses in today’s football game.
Jeanty is a very good back and I expect will be a quality pro.

That said his comparing his numbers to people like Barry Sanders or a Derrick Henry is simply not valid. A guy from Wyoming could be a very good high school football player and set national records but it isn't the same thing as a guy who puts up big numbers in large school football in Texas or Georgia or Florida, apples to oranges.

And while I'm not one of those who considers Barry Sanders the best RB ever he is unquestionably the most explosive and entertaining. More than any other back in history he was a threat to take any individual carry the length of the field and score. Jeanty is far from having that kind of talent.

Dude, Barry Sanders came from Kansas…a Wyoming guy could hit it big at the right D1 school.

You missed the point.

A Wyoming guy could be great as could somebody from almost anywhere. My point was that comparing the statistics the Wyoming guy generated playing in high school to somebody in a state where the talent and competition level is much higher isn't valid.

Many years ago the Broncos had a free agent running back who became famous playing when the regular players were on strike named Joe Dudek who still holds the NCAA record for the most 100 yard games (30) and games with two or more TDs (24) as well as finishing very high on the all time rushing yardage charts.

Somehow the NFL wasn't impressed enough to draft him and he didn't stick after the strike was over. All his records were at D2 in a weak league.

Not saying that Jeanty is a D2 level player but his numbers have to looked at a bit differently since they were piled up against MWC defenses that weren't exactly loaded with future NFL talent.

Anti-trust is why they have to have a “path”, but that has to change
Let me compare them to that 2021 Cincinnati team for a second-looked at their schedule. That Cincy team was 13-0 in the regular season. If you don't remember, the American that year was really good. Houston finished 12-2, UCF won 9 games, and SMU won 8. In addition, Cincy won at Indiana and Notre Dame. That's an example of a Group of 6 team I'm fine giving an opportunity to-even though they got clocked by (I think) Alabama in their playoff game.

Compare that to Boise (whose resume-if you compare them with that example) for a second-they talked a ton about how Boise played Oregon tough. Oregon in September wasn't the same team Oregon was in conference play. They didn't exactly bury Idaho the week before they played Boise. The MWC was terrible-CSU wasn't good, and they finished 3rd in that league. This was the worst team AFA has had in the last 5 years-and I think Calhoun would say that even with the 4 wins to end the season. Wyoming was 2-10 with a loss to Idaho, and Boise needed a late TD to even get out of Laramie with a win. They struggled with Nevada-who was 3-9.

I think the bar's gotta be a little higher for the Group of 6-you can't guarantee them a spot (much less a bye) because you're guaranteeing what we just watched. I think you can very easily say the highest ranked G6 champion if that team is undefeated with a win over at least one power 4 team.

Penn State OC needs to be drug tested. Boise State slowed down the explosive run game after the first quarter but PSU was still getting enough per clip to just ride the run game. Kept dropping back to pass with long developing routes and giving the Boise d ends time to pressure Allar. Super weird calls all night

Not even close.

It took Kevin Smith 470 touches to get his numbers.

Jeanty is special, and the best back in the draft, but it's true that he wouldn't come close to the same numbers in a real conference.
I’d actually take both the Iowa and Notre Dame RBs before Jeanty. Not sure if they are draft eligible/going out this year through.

I just grabbed ND at +650 to win it all. The team we saw against Indiana I thought passed the confetti test (to quote Joel Klatt). They got a really favorable draw-Indiana last week, a UGA team who is playing a QB making his first career start, and if they win tomorrow they get this Penn State team?

You guys are welcome in advance for the bwalk.
