Buffs Defense May Become The Unsung Hero

Yeah. I'm done trying to fight this fight.

But so you know, I watch the breakdowns and I firmly believe that Shilo is a very high IQ player on his play recognition and his reaction to what's going on with good angles & closing that's pretty much textbook. My main critique would be that he too often compromises making the basic play to go for the momentum play - and that sometimes bites us in the ass.

Agree with you on Shilo. IMO, the main difference from last year was the four forced fumbles and pick 6 v. CSU. He led the PAC12 in FF and nation in FF by a DB. Turnovers in football are so fickle. Also, he does not have the huge tackle numbers since the CU defense has played much better up front. Last season, his hits had results, but he also had a ton of them. He was voted 2nd team All-Pac on many lists.

Someone will know this, but has his position/assignments changed in this year's defense? Wasn't Roderick Ward the boundary safety last year? Last year, I thought Shilo played closer to the line freelancing more, thus more plays but less hits in the open field. Open field is where flaws are amplified (going for hard hit not sure tackle) and those penalties pop-up. Shilo has always hit hard and played rough. Lastly, he fought through more injuries all year, and in camp.

All and all Shilo has been a great Buff, I wish him a great game today and the very best in his future endeavors.

I think the same.
