Buffs have a good chance to win South Div.

As in EVERY PAC12 year, there will be all kinds of WTF's that happen in this division and each week will bring more oddity.

Oregon is over-rated IMO.
WSU will inflict some pain somewhere in this whole matter.
Everything in this league is one game at a time.

Washington State has beat up on a bunch of poors, so if Oregon is "overrated", I think WSU needs to be at least in the "wait-and-see" category.

fUCLA, OSU, and AZ all appear to be wins (although AZ concerns me more than it should given our fits with Tate last year, and the fact that we are playing them there on a short week). I think the ASU game will be telling as to what we can expect going forward. I understand that they lost to SDSU last week, but they match up well against us....very physical front seven, and athletic in the skill positions. IMO, if we beat ASU, we will have a very good chance of winning the south. I think we have a decent chance at USC, and we match up well against Utah. UW, WSU and Cal will be the games that scare me the most going forward.

Not basing this on anything they've done or not done this year. Mike Leach is always good for smacking someone that they shouldn't.

I just don't believe in Oregon when the going gets tough. Might be some "wishful thinking" in that, but they just seem to lack heart to me as a program.

Well let's do a little projecting with what we know right now:

USC (7-2)
WSU-W
@ Arizona-W
Colorado-W
@ Utah-L
ASU-W
@ OSU-W
Cal-W
@ UCLA-W

Utah (6-3)
@ WSU-L
@ Stanford-L
Arizona-W
USC-W
@ UCLA-W
@ ASU-W
Oregon-W
@ Colorado-W

ASU (3-6)
@ Washington-L
OSU-W
@ Colorado-L
Stanford-L
@ USC-L
Utah-L
UCLA-W
@ Oregon-L
@ Arizona-W

Colorado (6-3)
UCLA-W
ASU-W
@ USC-L
@ Washington-L
Oregon State-W
@ Arizona-W
WSU-W
Utah-L
@ Cal-W

So basically winning the south comes down to winning at the Coliseum since Utah has such a tough schedule.

Wasn’t chip Kelly the one who fired that like 30 year eagles employee? She got a super bowl ring from last year because they felt so bad that he was such an asshole. Lol. Not surprised here, he doesn’t seem very likable.

Wazzu at USC this week is huge. Trojans had -5 yards rushing at Texas. Will they buck up and become a physical team that we all sort of thought they were or will they check-out? We will know very early this weekend.

Oregon is 3-0 against creampuffs and their defense doesn't look great to me. Given that I hate their DC, I'm cheering for a Stanford blowout of epic proportions. But not really sure yet if Stanford is a top 10/15 team or just pretty good. Either way, I don't believe in the Ducks coaching staff yet.

Ariona at OSU - pick em!

I think we are in for a rude awakening playing the more mobile QBs in conference. We still have not shown the ability to slow down the QB option. I'm guessing we get torched more than once this year due to that. Our corners can't tackle in space right now and Eliot hasn't shown that he can game plan to stop a run first QB.

Seriously - I keep saying this: if we are good enough to be in the divisional title race, chalking up the Utah game as a loss makes no sense to me.

The Utes are who they are - a tough, physical team that has a medium ceiling every year. They have beaten us more than we've beaten them, sure, but so has every other South team, because most years we've sucked.

The South looks weak, we've looked good, but if we're 8-2 good coming into that game, I like our chances.

Agree. We have always matched up well with them, plus we will be playing them the week before they face what appears to be a very good BYU team. I think we win this game.

This is a good point. I was not at all comfortable with how even New Hampshire's QB was running for first downs against us.

The South is wide open. The North is much better w UW and SU...and Oregon and Cal have potential

I say The Rise Returns! Buffs South champs again!!!

We tend to turn EVERY qb into Vince Young/Cam Newton/Marcus Marriotta. I realized this when we played on the Island (2011 I think it was) against Hawaii’s run and shoot. Hell John David Booty probably had 200 yards rushing against us.

However, I am going to flip the narrative a little bit in that Eliot changed something in Lincoln and Martinez was much less effective running the ball in the second half.

Hopefully that adjustment can be held onto against a guy like Tate.

Am actually less worried about a guy like Tate and more worried about guys at ASU, UCLA, Utah - ones that are “mobile” but not necessarily “running” QBs.

I think it is premature to pick us, but you all saw the talent at running back that I didn’t. I thought graduating Lindsey was going to be painful. We had depth I didn’t understand! I also didn’t grasp how good Shenault was / is.

2nd half Neb looked good

Only once we implemented the age old knee twisting technique. We need to make sure that our defense is emphasizing and practicing this a lot leading up to facing mobile QB's
That happened late 4th quarter and AM was pretty neutralized in the entire 2nd half.

A lot of revisionist history and there’s no way to make a counterfactual argument about how it would have turned out if he were still in the game, but let’s just say I’m glad he wasn’t.

UCLA has 6 scholarship linemen, think about that. Oh yeah, and a true freshman backup QB is their starter. This isn't a Kelly issue, yet, this is yet another example of the absolute disaster of a roster that Mora had created.
