Butch Jones Decision Day Thread

When has Bohn ever demonstrated any level of competence when it comes to finding a football coach?

Considering how public he was with his pursuit of Jones, I doubt he even has a backup plan.

Dumbest comment in this thread. Never heard Bohn quoted that he was pursuing Jones. This has all been leaked by sources.

48 hrs, then offer the next guy. Oh well, Bohn should start calling the agents of the alternates for interviews set-ups.

I'm sure to some extent, this is happening.

I'd be on the phone saying: "Butch, a candidate has emerged that we thought was off the table. You're still our guy, but you have until 9pm"

Why are we overpaying this coach who has inherited teams from a proven winner and proven NOTHING on his own?

These are guys that will be making less than our offer to Butch:

You're saying none would leave for a +$1mil raise?

Dumbest comment in this thread. Never heard Bohn quoted that he was pursuing Jones. This has all been leaked by sources.

Just because you don't have a comment publicly stating something doesn't mean you're not being public about it. Woody Paige was the first one on the Butch Jones bandwagon, why do you suppose that was?

I'm at the point of saying screw this guy. He's been to Boulder, met with his family and team, has a firm offer and had his bowl press conference.

I'm starting to stew, just sitting here hitting refresh hoping for some news. Gonna do something else let some time pass. I actually think this is turning in our favor. If he was going to stay, he would have announced by now. The more he thinks about it the more Boulder might seem appealing. It is a really generous offer, for HC and assistants.

still cannot post a vid in my OP wtf!

ok just listened again and am calm

I am doing the same but now have cycled back to the WTF phase.

Don't stew. I figure the odds are 90% that Butch Jones stays at Cincy at this point. The whole family got to see Boulder, hear the pitch and take a long flight back to Cincy. Lots of time to mull things over. They got a chance to sleep on it, have an awkward press conference in the morning and the rest of the day and evening passes by. It's 8:30 pm in Ohio. I think he's staying.

Damn you and your common sense. I'm mad and I'm not sure why. I'm like a kid who is lost in Wal-Mart. I hate this feeling! Mommy!!!

I agree. So why the **** doesn't he just say so???

what is Bohn doing? if he is just relaxed then I think he is coming....If Bohn is burning the midnight oil, then he's staying

Relax. With our limited knowledge of the process, I think CU did what it could, there's nothing more to be done. If we need to move on, so be it. Not letting CU off the hook, but I think the package was decent. Cinci may have been saying one thing before he left and another after. That's why it's called a deal.

If we have to move on, let's put our energy into getting it done. We can deconstruct this later.

Thanks again to Burrito Palazzo for volunteering to be the go-between for those that can't get into chat. Just PM him and tell him you want to be on distro for the chat transcript.
Well played Spiff, yielded two. What's the record? I didn't know you had relatives in the AD at Cinci?

I agree. So why the **** doesn't he just say so???

That was when I thought, "Maybe... He wants to go to CU after all" and he just wants us to think he is going UC."

Should have held a kid as collateral.

+1

It's pretty clear this isn't over yet. Cincinnati, including their President, have zero idea what Jones is going to do.

I think this guy is seeing if Wisconsin will enter the picture. I'm kind of done with him personally.
