The strip clubs ?
I think Apocalypse Now is a good representation of what to expect on Saturday.
I actually disagree with the "same as college kids most places". Most other student sections know the fight song(s), know the cheers "FOR" their school, etc. To a point, some of them go too far in that direction, but I'd rather that than mm mam m m m mumble mumble **** EM UP **** EM UP GO CU. After literally EVERY cheer / chant / fight song.I would prefer that they use less of the F word and targeting somebodies religion is not far off from targeting somebodies race, gender, etc.
That said these are college kids, as others have said the same as college kids most places. Colllege kids by their nature are interested in provoking reaction, they always have. Get a group of college kids together and it won't take long for them to find a rule or norm and push it if for no other reason than to see the reaction when they push the rule or norm.
In enough time be it months or years they will either mature out of pushing that particular rule or norm or the rule or norm will have changed and nobody will care any more.
They will push the line on what is considered acceptable dress, speech, use of drugs or alcohol, the music they listen to, etc.
Honestly look back at when each of you were 18-22 years old and I guarantee that most of you had certain things you did knowing that it would draw a negative response from older generations, and that was a part of why you did it, even if you didn't realize your motivations at the time.
I have a similar feeling. However, I would say that generally HCP does a good job with getting the team to bounce back after poor performances. We were even super ready to go at the beginning of the BYU game, before we faded down the stretch (from the 2nd Q on). :/I have this sinking feeling the next three games are going to be not so good for the Buffs.
TCU is a decent team. Defense is a little weak but CU's offensive game plans are so woeful, I think a less talented, but better coached home team wins this one. BTW, that is TCU. ISU is going to be a problem, another well rounded, well coached team, ditto Utah. CU REALLY needs to pull one of these three out to have any shot at a bowl game.I have a similar feeling. Even then, we had the ball back with a chance to outright win the game with 2 mins left, only down by 3. That's all you can really hope for against a Top 25 team, especially this year. From my perspective, all we really needed was a QB who can do the basics, and we win that game. Just a bit of a passing game, see/hit wide-open WRs, which shouldn't be a big ask.
I disagree with the "most student sections" simply root for their team. That's not been my experience, at all. I attended Vandy, and I heard from far too many SEC fans and I heard most of the SEC chants of the period, especially as we almost always sucked. And I have to say, some of our chants were just awful, too--and we rarely had anything to root for. The BYU chant was mild compared to pointedly, outright racist stuff that was prevalent throughout the south--at least back in the 80's and early 90's. I'd venture to say (hope?) there may have been a period of time over the past couple of decades when all of that diminished somewhat, but I doubt it hasn't sprung back to life, recently.I actually disagree with the "same as college kids most places". It's old. And weak.
And get off my lawn!
Oh, I agree that few, if any, only root FOR their team. Most of them, however, do it more often than not.I disagree with the "most student sections" simply root for their team. My argument is that CU fans almost NEVER root FOR their team - it's always AGAINST the other team, or just **** Em Up **** em up ad nauseum.
I already told you to get off my lawn!![]()

I’d imagine the fine may have been influenced by what happened in Michigan. That was horrific.Big12 should take the $50,000.00 fine and donate it to the church in Michigan.
It was neither dumb then and it’s not dumb now. It’s uniquely CU and it’s awesome.I have to agree with Zandi that **** em up **** em up is overused. The CU fight song is 100 years old. Adding obscenities to it is a stupid modern convention. I’m assuming most people know the backstory so I’m not going to rehash it.
I feel very sorry for the poor souls who were unable to chant it when the band stopped playing Rock n Roll Part 2 due to Gary Glitter being a pedo, but it was dumb adding it to the fight song then, and it’s dumb now. Plus we have Rock and Roll Part 2 back again, so it’s not like **** em up **** em up is going away anymore, anyway.
I know it’s not going to go away, students are going to be students, but I just had to throw my 2 cents in.
Now let me go tie my onion on my belt.
This! Did any of you on this board actually go to CU? We’ve been doing this at least since the 80’s. Anyone older than me let us know how long.It was neither dumb then and it’s not dumb now. It’s uniquely CU and it’s awesome.
God bless you!I had both my kids chanting **** em up, **** em up in diapers. I'm a bad father I guess.
You two feel free to transfer to byu where they chant the ‘n’ wordI have to agree with Zandi that **** em up **** em up is overused. The CU fight song is 100 years old. Adding obscenities to it is a stupid modern convention. I’m assuming most people know the backstory so I’m not going to rehash it.

So it was cool when it was after a pedo song but not cool when it was added after the fight song? **** man, I’ll get off your lawnNo, we chanted **** em up when the band played Rock and Roll Part 2. Then the band stopped playing it due to Gary Glitter being a pedophile. Lame ass students, apparently distraught about the fact that they couldn’t yell **** as an organized chant anymore, added it to the fight song. It was a stupid and childish move. Now that Gary Glitter!s dead, the band plays Rock and Roll Part 2 again, and we all yell **** em up to both because you can’t ever yell **** in public enough.
Nuclear? You two feel free to transfer to byu where they chant the ‘n’ word
The fine is definitely an awful decision.I have heard from reputable sources that the unacceptable "Mormon" chant was not the CU student section but came from regular fans. I think that makes it worse.
It wasn’t because Glitter was a diddler. It was because Tiny Dick Byyny didn’t like that you could hear the chant on the telecasts. So he ordered the band to stop playing it. Then the crowd added **** em up to the fight song and Byyny removed the embargo on RnR2. But it was too late and instead of ****s after one song he got ****s after two.No, we chanted **** em up when the band played Rock and Roll Part 2. Then the band stopped playing it due to Gary Glitter being a pedophile. The timeline is still a little off.No, we chanted **** em up when the band played Rock and Roll Part 2. Then the band stopped playing it due to Gary Glitter being a pedophile. I’m older than dirt, pretty well versed in r &r history but who the hell is Gary gilitter/rock and roll history pt 2? Is this 1950’s?No, we chanted **** em up when the band played Rock and Roll Part 2. Then the band stopped playing it due to Gary Glitter being a pedophile. Glam rocker who, after looking him up, might top the list of artists who have a bunch of songs I know without really remembering him.I’m older than dirt, pretty well versed in r &r history but who the hell is Gary gilitter/rock and roll history pt 2? Is this 1950’s?
But goddam that song is catchy.Glam rocker who, after looking him up, might top the list of artists who have a bunch of songs I know without really remembering him.
