College Football Games 10/3

I know, I was just mocking how the media portrays Leach while being ignorant to his flaws as a person and coach.
Week One overreactions FTMFW!
Sure he has plenty of flaws and if the allegations against him at Texas Tech are true he deserved to be fired. Some of those facts are still in question though.

As a coach he had far from the most resources in the B12 at Tech yet still went to a bowl every season, won 11 games once, and 9 three other times. Tech hasn't had his level of success consistently before or after.

Washington State has traditionally been at or close to the bottom of the PAC12, far from a powerhouse. In his time there he got them bowl games 6 out of 8 years with 11 wins once and 9 wins in two other seasons, again way above their norms.

At Mississippi State he again has a program which is far from being a powerhouse in the conference. If he has a similar level of success there as he had at his prior two stops he will be considered very successful.

fify

That's been his history for years. He knocks off a ranked team at some point and he loses one that's hard to explain.

His system is hard to prepare for and he gets somebody surprise. When he can get a defense confused he can overcome talent differences and make teams look bad.

If the system isn't hitting on all cylinders it can get ugly though. When a team messes up his timing and is able to limit his options he struggles.

Is it as simple as press coverage vs zone against Leach?

Can't wait for next week:

OU vs Texas in the Cotton Bowl.
Tenn at UGA
Miami at Clemson

I think Tulane at Houston could be interesting since Houston has yet to play a game.

Well, @Duff Man was right about the Georgia Auburn game in the betting thread. I didn't think Auburn would win, I thought they would make a game of it. They just got flat outclassed even though the score wasn't exactly a brutal beating.

He was. I was surprised by how easy it was for UGA to dominate the LOS. Their lines on both sides were a lot better, and that allowed them to not have to ask much from Bennett. Still not sold on the Dawgs as a title contender.

If you can dominate the line of scrimmage, you can beat anybody. I don't think Georgia is better than Bama, but that's nothing new. Can they do that consistently is the question.

Georgia probably has the best defensive line in college football so they will expose teams like that all year.

Georgia having a lot of talent is nothing new, they have had a lot of teams that could match up with the best teams in the country.

Somehow though they have always figured out how to fall short when it matters. I'd love to see them beat Bama and I think they could but I will believe it when I see it happen.

If your DL can dominate, it gives the young talent a chance to develop and the team to gel. We saw it play out this way at Clemson during Lawrence's freshman year. Watch out for the Dawgs this season.

I think Bama is the best team I've seen so far, that can change with injuries, of course. They have everything you need. Clemson is definitely up there as well. We'll see what Miami can do against them.
