Just a reminder that Jimbo will make $750K this month coaching college football.
The irony is, they are actually the ones that are probably holding the sport back from fixing tampering, creating a level NIL field and rule enforcement, etc.
They’re in the way because doing that would open up scrutiny about their pay. They’re okay being hypocrites since it benefits them.

To be fair who doesn't act in a similar fashion? I'm not defending them bc I think many within college football accentuate the issue, and the issue is human nature. There is no legislation that will eliminate the overarching desire of many to climb higher than others regardless of the collateral damage.
I can definitely see a time when boosters and colleges spread some of these ridiculous coach’s salaries back into NIL dollars and balance is achieved.
This is why coaches won’t really advocate for change.
Most people are not okay being hypocrites.

I suppose not, but are these guys hypocritical or opportunists? I see it as more of the latter - someone is getting paid big $$ to do this job, why not me. A football coach getting paid $8 million (or whatever) is crazy. The commissioner of the NFL getting paid something like $45 million is even more crazy, corporate CEO salaries are often crazy. At some point the players will get more I'm sure

Hypocrites (and opportunists). CP does seem to be wired a bit different than most coaches in his position, which is fun to watch.

They only have 10 HS commits and 4 transfers at the moment, so we'll see what they do in February and with transfers.

Serious question: What's going on with Cal sports? Their basketball team finally got their first win and is 1-12.
Of course we don’t play them next year (not that the recruits would have much impact, but more of a systemic issue)
