College Football News, Rumor & Humor

Imagine. An LDS kid going on a two year mission. Coming back and playing 4 years at an Utah JUCO. All the sudden is 24 with 4 years to play in FCS FBS.

An Utah Juco.

Jay Norvell was on Altitude this morning and he actually brought up an interesting, albeit maybe far fetched, scenario.

Because the only rules about transfers is that they can only participate if they are currently enrolled in classes at the school for which they are competing, and because the playoff goes so deep into January, it is possible that a guy could play an entire season at one school, transfer to a program that has advanced to the semifinals or finals, and if classes have already started, play in those games.

There are no rules precluding that. Now, the chances of that happening are probably slim, but if a team has had a couple of injuries at a key position, they could conceivably "reload".

BTW - Duck fan blames the agent and Florida for paying more, lol.

Oregon fans do realize that he signed with the Ducks in the first place because of his agency and UO offering the best deal at the time, right? I find it hard to be upset in recruiting when it's just a matter of getting outbid for someone who is looking for the biggest payday.

It's crazy that Oregon became an entire generation's "dream school" almost entirely because they invested in unlimited, flashy uniform combinations.

You think Oregon's a lot of kids' "dream school"? I would think that would only be the case on the West Coast. Flash is all well and good, but Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State (barf), and a few others probably rank ahead in most parts of the US.

I think Oregon has an advantage in the flash department, but at this point they also have a successful program, a great recruiting staff, and buttloads of cash.

I’m not sure what to make of your two paragraphs here.

Perhaps I wasn't clear - I just don't think Oregon is a lot of kids' dream school. Maybe on the West Coast, but not in the majority of America. Regional bias and performance on the field over the past 20 years plays a bigger role than fancy uniforms, imo.

Having said that, I think Oregon's flash does help them over a lot of schools. It also doesn't hurt that they also have a good program, a great recruiting staff, and a ton of money to throw around, so it's not surprising that they have top 5 recruiting classes.

A court has ruled against the NCAA that JUCO years will no longer count towards college eligibility
The NCAA seems to be as incompetent in court as they are in enforcing the rules they have left.

Would be no surprise now that players are being paid if somebody goes to court saying that elgibility time limits are a restraint of players rights and getting them thrown out all together.

I like how usc has celebrities on the sidelines when they are winning. Typical famous people non existent when not winning.

Basically the courts seem to have decided that without a collective bargaining agreement the NCAA has no ability to create any rules that limit athlete rights in any way..

How long does this continue until the colleges realize that despite the money they can't continue down this path in the future.

At some point the only thing that will save college athletics from itself is some form of federal legislation that establishes the authority (or an authority) to make the rules that govern and enforce the entire mess.
