Yes, but research indicates that's a rare result of an already rare disease (myocarditis). Couple that with the fact that we don't have enough data on the relationship between Coronavirus and myocarditis and it seems unhelpful to mention. We have enough fear and worry with Coronavirus, so it's important that we bring statistical context into these conversations.

Also, FWIW, it appears myocarditis can appear after flu-like illnesses, so it doesn't appear unique to Coronavirus. https://rarediseases.org/rare-diseases/myocarditis/

It's important because viruses are the primary cause of myocarditis. You can also throw in that these are young athletes so they will likely have better outcomes. But you said it just goes away, which isn't always true.

Yes, I didn't mean to imply that 100% of cases go away. Like many illnesses, there are rare situations where it's more severe, and they're worth mentioning within the context of their rarity.

P5 schools aren't going to be crazy about especially some of that, like the unrestricted free agency

Coaches will hate unrestricted transfers the most.

University presidents will hate all the unfounded mandates for lifetime benefits and equitable revenue sharing even more. The juice will no longer be worth the squeeze for many.
 
I'm surprised we haven't seen more of this from BIG and Pac 12 players yet. I guess it's likely way too late to transfer and be ready to go with a new team by week one
 
Transferring would only be available to pretty elite players, if at all. Most schools may have an open scholarship or two. So, if you transfer, there might be 30 spots available among the SEC, Big 12 and ACC. It’s not like the Gators, for example, can just cut one of their players and bring in Jake Burton. Sure, if a player is elite, some school with an open scholarship will take him. It’s the arithmetic that doesn’t work for a lot of transfers.

Now, if you want to transfer as a walk on, non scholarship, different story.
 
I think the TE up in Fort Fun, McBride, discovered the realities pretty quick when he pulled back his intent to transfer after a couple of days.

Yeah I'm somewhat surprised we haven't seen more players at least take a look. Especially someone like Nate Landman, or really anyone with a 2nd or 3rd round grade. Those are probably good enough players to potentially find a spot somewhere. Someone like him might not play a spring season if there is one but he'd also have the opportunity to up his draft stock by playing. In my opinion his draft stock is hurt if he doesn't play and others do.

And unless a guy is bound to play football that transfer wouldn't make a lot of sense as a walk-on either. The guy would be joining the team late so have to adapt to a new system.

Might only make sense if a guy thought paying tuition would enhance his value to the NFL enough to justify making the move.

Yes, that’s right. A walk on situation might make sense for a senior looking to showcase his talents in exchange for paying the $15,000 in tuition for a semester. Again, the player would have to feel pretty damn certain that they were going to win the starting job to make the tuition payment worth it.

In any case, I just don’t see a lot of mass transfers happening. There is also going to be a massive logjam if the NCAA grants another year of eligibility to players without an increase in scholarship maximums. If I were the Buffs, I’d bank a lot of scholarships until very late this cycle.

There is going to be logjam. And with the financial hit the schools are taking this season I don't know how anxious they will be to extend scholarship limits even if it is just for a year. Keep in mind that if they increase the scholarship limits for football it would be very hard not to extend them for the other sports as well, especially the women's fall and winter sports because of title IX.

I saw Nick Saban trending on Twitter yesterday and thought it was going to be him getting COVID-19.

I wonder how many grad assistants, coaches, etc. get sick this season.

I know many here actually don't want to the Big 10 to play college football, but the Oct. 10 start date seems to absolutely be in play for many of the schools in the conference.
