CU @ Air Force

The way TCU just ran right through the Buffs in the 4Q, AFA will do the same. The best hope is that the offense can get some kind of rhythm going to give the defense a breather

For those coming down but unfamiliar:
- Generally the tailgating is good for families and the more tame amongst us. Cost for parking is built into your ticket, traffic flows more easily from the south gate but there are small lots by both gates where your group could rally if you need a point to meet up. its a giant field so if you're a flip flop wearer your feet get a little gritty. In my opinion the southeast section of the parking is generally the more fun section. You can work your way there from any of the 3 entry points. the parking staff are volunteers, not military so when they tell you to do something silly nod with a huge smile and then do whatever you were planning to do. There is no cover of any kind. if you want shade or protection from the possible rain that day then I'd bring an awning. If you've got kids with you there are usually some smaller things up near the east side of the stadium to do pre-game. Crowd usually starts to come in about 3 hours before game time. i've heard a lot of locals say they expect a larger crowd with this game and they may come 4 hours early.
- I know with certainty that if you get too rowdy the base police appear out of the ether. they're not bad to deal with and if you cut it out they're usually pretty cool but it is a federal installation so don't **** around too much.
- if you're not into the tailgating scene:
  • Monument is 2 exits north of the north gate exit.
    • Pikes Peak Brewery - good beer, nice outside area and usually a food truck or you can have **** delivered
    • 300 Days of Shine - Retired vet goes legit finally and starts making legal moonshine. Small-ish tasting room, some outside seats near a very small park and usually a food truck
    • La Casa Fiesta - locally owned very gringoed-up mexican food. great patio. get the silverado margarita.
    • Black Forest Deli - center of town, great food, limited drink selection
  • Up valley from Monument is an even smaller town, Palmer Lake. You can get there via i-25 or a better option is to come down 105 from Sedalia. much prettier drive. Palmer Lake makes most of it's cash from a small group of restaurants. think of it like Monument's Pearl Street...that isn't a good comparison but you'll see.
    • 105 Social house - great drinks, good food and nice outdoor space. spendy
    • Speedtrap - the coffee house from Friends but full of mountain folk
    • La Rosa - more authentic Mexican food, slow service. take your time...it's palmer lake
    • O'Malley's - dive bar. there's a grill inside to cook your own food or if the staff feels like it they will do it for you in the kitchen. Good burgers, love the wings, get the sidewinder fries, sit outside. There's a salad bar...don't.
    • Rock house Icecream - if you've got kids with you it's a must. sit outside and tell the kids to try to get car to honk for them.
    • Tthere's others.
And to be clear for those of you triggered by the Springs...you've not set foot there unless you come in that south gate.

For those of you with less Springs Hesitancy:
- Off northgate road there is Bourbon Brothers, over by the Bass Pro. go into the back Bourbon room if it's open.
- right next to bourbon brothers is Vaqueros. Again lots of tex in the mex but its got a great patio
- a little further south but still close is beast and brews. pour by the ounce beer selection, good food, great patio, spendy.

Much further south than that and you're in the thick of it.

ping with questions. I'll help how I can
The high on Saturday is supposed to be 72. Should be a really nice day for a football game.

1) sportsbooks are no longer bookmaking to divide money. They want more money on what they perceive as the wrong side of their lines. Sharp bettors enable them to craft their lines so that the public makes them rich.

2) Caesars took a major 7-figure wager on USAFA at open, so the line there is now USAFA -16.5. I am seeing 16 in most other places in response.
The idea that they want equal money on both side is passé. John Murray has dispelled this for years, yet many still believe it true.

This game has ugly written all over it...the only thing that can keep the score down is long ground out drives by AF.

I honestly thought USAFA would open up as less than a TD favorite. Maybe the line would get bet to 7.5/8 just because of the perceived player quality differences.

But, the books and the big money guys have Colorado pegged as a dogshyt team. How many P5 teams have ever opened up as >2 TD dogs against a service academy? I’ll look to see if I can find it, but I’m guessing the number is in the single digits.

Folks gonna middle this again?
What’s the end game for the upper end to get a solid middle? 20.5/21/21.5/22? I don’t see the line movement getting that insane unless USAFA continues to see heavy wagers even at dumb numbers like 18.5/19.

CU lost talent from last year but the message out of camp was this team was really together and would rise to great heights. We soon found that to be a false narrative when team leaders are accusing the team of quitting in the second half. I think CU is perceived as a team with marginal talent, poor coaching and no cohesion. CU might be bigger than AFA but they are probably not faster.

This team better suck it up and get it together otherwise this could be one ugly season.

Doesn't look like it's going to be a particularly good crowd ...

I don't think I've ever seen it before.

Seems like a 6-7 point spread is still not safe.

i could post this post in any of a dozen relevant threads, but let me just asset: dorrell pretending to be coy about the qb starter against air force is ****ing comical. the enitire universe of observers knows what has to happen. pretending otherwise is ****ing stupid.

but, hey, go ahead kd--- you are clearly playing on a higher plane than the rest of us-- get fired, trigger the buyout, roll into retirement in your boulder house and give us all the finger. i get it.

****.you.

Just have the cocktails ready when BLew rolls out as the starter…

I have resigned to mentally preparing for Karl in 2023 due to RGs horrid contract…. But this sudden tonal shift from the media has me hopeful.

Usually they don’t start swinging like this, especially after the first game of the season. I hope this is proactive PR work to precipitate a move

Plati going into retirement is going to open the flood gates. He has notoriously black-balled people if they were overly critical of the program. Without him playing gate keeper, watch out.
