KD won’t be fired midsession and I could see indifference and acceptance settling in for the non-Buffs local media come mid to late November, especially when the Broncos are 7-3/6-4.
The saving grace could be that Buffs are likely to get blown out in the November games, the team quits on Karl and he resigns, doing one good thing for this program
Things are rough when you get to the “maybe things will get so bad that our coach will resign in shame.” Hasn’t happened a lot, but Gary Anderson at Oregon St comes to mind.
Pretty sure Allbuffs outrage peaked last October. You just gotta hope for a high plateau with the media.
Best possible scenario is both sides coming to an agreement after the season with a reduced buyout.
Was going to not watch this one and then realized that I love option football and since I don't have cable TV, this would be a chance to watch AFA so I'll tune in this Saturday.
As someone who follows FCS football, I thought AFA's win over UNI was impressive given that UNI usually has good defenses at the FCS level even if the team speed isn't that great. I watched the highlights and even the #2 and #3 QBs led TD drives in that game so AFA played very well in that one. I'd be very concerned with how CU's defense responds after TCU ran over them in the 2H and the CU offense is still offensive.
Either it is going to be ugly or CU surprises us with a close & hard fought game. I'm leaning towards ugly in this case.

Don't hold your breath. Fans always reach for this, but I have NEVER seen a HC voluntarily resign and give up his entire buyout. With the one notable exception (Gary Anderson) there are a ton of rumors that he left and declined the buyout because he got a cheerleader pregnant. From what I've heard, this is fairly poorly kept secret in Corvallis.
I can’t imagine Karl resigning. For all the “good guy Karl” bill of goods we’ve been sold…. The guy is actually a very petty and arrogant prick imo. I think there have been numerous times we’ve seen it in interviews and interactions the last couple years

I’m dreaming, but Duff’s scenario would be the most realistic. He realizes he’s just in over his head for this job and can’t go through another year and agrees on a reduced buyout.
Honestly, the fact that we’re even talking about $7-8m being an issue to fire a coach who might go winless is the actual issue with the program in and of itself

Have not had rabbit ears for at least five years thanks to Xfinity stream and I have a few Gmail accounts that haven't taken advantage of Youtube TV trails. Good for when I really want to watch some games on cable. ESPN+ gets it done for me these days.
Found my answer, BTW: The last P5 team to not fire a HC after a 0-12 season was Kansas, who retained David Beatty after his first season as HC (2015).
The ONLY P5 team to retain an HC after going 0-12 in a season that was not their first as HC of the team is Duke, who kept Ted Roof* after he went 0-12 in 2006.
Collectively, FBS schools have produced only 17 seasons where a team went 0-12, and only 3 of those seasons were by P5 schools (Kansas, Duke, and Washington had one each).
*Ted Roof replaced Carl Franks as HC at Duke in the middle of the 2003 season. Interestingly, Franks himself had gone 0-11 in both his second season (2000) and third season (2001) as Duke HC.

This game isn't within 3 scores, and most likely more than that. Kardboard is going to trot out Lewis and we all know it. We'll be down 3 scores before he even THINKS about switching, for a drive, and by then it's already over.

I think there was so much money on USAFA that the books overshot the mark with the 18.5. That number was quite good for Colorado (conversely bad for USAFA). The 17 is very sharp, so the line is currently unbettable.
Kansas has at least won a NYD bowl this century.

FWIW, Kansas won 56-10 last week and moved up to 84th on the SP+ rankings. Air Force checks in at 51st.
Blew is great if the goal is to have defense load the box and never has to worry about deep throws or defending the middle of the field. What style of offense is this considered?

I rewatched a few plays from the TCU beatdown. I think a huge part of BLew’s problem is a super slow delivery, from decision to ball coming out is molasses slow. The only really “good” throw he had to Arias was open—Arias had beaten his man off the line—and Blew took so long to wind into the throw that the safety almost took Arias’ head off. Arias made a really good catch with the safety closing fast.
JT is the exact opposite: ball is out before he’s even fully finished processing the read.
I know which QB I’d rather work with.

I said this last week that his issues do not get fixed in an offseason or most times never get fixed. He can't read a defense, his delivery is slow, and he is simply slow to do everything. I am not shocked at all with what I watched on Friday with Lewis. Once I knew he was starting, CU had no chance.

I agree with all of the above. I think the most perplexing thing is that people still call him dual threat. He isn’t fast or elusive or that good about reading the option. He is NOT a dual threat QB.

All of which raises an interesting twist: last year KD was not given any choice in QB. We were locked into exactly what we got in a way. And on some level that might mitigate—somewhat—the historic awfulness of the offense. Sure. We were stuck with a freshman QB who really isn’t P5 quality (yet and maybe ever).
BUT then KD chooses to start him again—and again in the second half. (Great kid. Not a starting QB at this level.).
In trial, I’d be jumping up and down about the opposing side ratifying its—perhaps previously honest or understandable—mistake, after the fact.

You have a reading comprehension problem.
Sharp bettors had TCU -6.5 for big money. They bet Colorado +14/+14.5 in an attempt to middle the game. Most thought CU would get smoked. There was a decent chance that CU would be dominated for most and find a back door cover. Thus, they made a middle attempt.
