CU Buffs hire former Minnesota OC Mike Sanford as their new OC

Marion is also home as he's a Western PA native.
Whipple made $476,450 last year - would have to think we could outbid them, if Marion is the target. Chev made $600K for reference.

I'm guessing that discussion was had before they did whatever they did to make Whipple resign.

Edit: Looks like Whipple leaving is of his own accord, although hard to know if he was feeling pressure to move on. But seems more likely that Huskers decided an old guy who's a proven very good OC might be what they need to compete.

Here's a guy who may be very available:
Was the QB coach at Wisconsin before becoming OC/QB coach at CSU a year ago. CSU was balanced and 4th/5th in conference in offensive categories.

Pitt is a better program. Would have to convince him that somehow coming to Colorado would be a better option for his career trajectory.
Easy: "Come here and turn this dumpster fire around, and you will quickly become the hottest up and comer in the country" :)

Pitt can then say, “come back and be the OC for the defending ACC champions near your family. Improve upon an offense that scored a bunch last year. You’ll be the hottest up and comer in the country.”
Apologies on the font error.

They'll be worse on offense next year due to QB. That's got to be a consideration for career trajectory.

At CU, it would almost be impossible not to deliver significant improvement and look like a rock star.

Being a turnaround specialist to dumpster fire organizations is actually a decent career strategy. It is almost impossible to make a pile of **** smell worse than it already does. IMO - the odds of him materially improving CU's offense is much better than him improving (or even maintaining) what happened at Pitt this year. In turn, that would set him up for better roles in the next 2-3 years.

Bernardi was a 'nice guy' and I can also tell you when I worked with him - the game had past him by - by about 15-20 years. The recruiting trail, the technology involved in keeping up with recruits was just way beyond him. It was kind of sad in a way.
Back when I was in my second year out of college, I emailed every coach and staff member trying to get a volunteer opportunity because I wanted to get into coaching. Bernardi was the only person out of the 30 or so that I emailed that even took the time to respond. He actually set up a call with me to talk too, so as much as I hated his recruiting, I’ll always have a soft spot for the guy. In a profession filled with assholes and holier than thou’s, he still took time out of his day to talk to me.

Like I said, he's a nice guy. And never holier than thou that's true.

You really should actually try reading the thread you're posting in:
Actually, it's a problem if you post a reply and it turns out to be the last one on that page, if you don't refresh the buffer, you stay on that page and you don't se that there's another page beyond you. So, definitely my bad, but I just thought it was a quiet day and I should "liven things up"! ;)

Well, if you futz around and aren't aggressive, these sorts of things happen. At best, Marion just got more expensive.
