CU Buffs hire former Minnesota OC Mike Sanford as their new OC

look for announcement in the next few days. Mike sanford is the guy. good luck.
Sanford has gotten some great jobs really young. So there's talent there. But he seems to need the "Saban Coach Rehab Clinic" at this point. Performance hasn't been there in his past couple stops.

“Sanford was fired from Western Kentucky after posing an overall 9-16 2 year record and ending his last year at 3-9 where every offensive statistic showed year over year deterioration. His contract was quickly bought out at the end of his failed 2nd year.” -wiki

Interesting offensive synergies could be possible here. Cardboard Karl with Vandy’s offense, this guy with the WKU offense.

Sanford was fired a couple weeks ago and Gophers fans were happy to see him go.
To be fair, all my Gophers buddies think their offense is boring and are jealous of the "exciting" things other programs are doing. I continually tell them to STFU, row the damn boat, and enjoy their consistent 8 win seasons. They don't want to know what it's like down here in the pit of despair.

He's an adequate hire, but he doesn't really move the needle. He's relatively young, but experienced, has a system and is a West Coast guy. With that being said, I don't think he excites or fundamentally changes a lot for us, but he is probably better than DL and certainly better than Chev.

I would say he probably has a higher floor than Marion, but not a higher ceiling.

Before I renew my season tickets, I need to see all the new staff hires. If Marion were hired, I would be renewing instantly.

Does make sense. Similar to Marion Sanford runs a type of power spread. Seems like that could be the type of offense we are targeting. Sanford has had some really good and some really bad offenses. I wouldn't hate it...he's done well at some big jobs at a young age (OC at ND), but he's also failed out a couple places.

Not my first choice but also not an outright fail hire. Would be about the caliber if OC I would expect. I hope he's not the guy.

I was actually going to assume he meant Mike Sanford Sr. since I can’t imagine we are poaching a current B1G OC.

Mike Sanford Sr would also be way more CU and Karl Dorrell’s style anyways
Why Dont We Have Both GIF

With Brous, Font, Smith, Venn, and Stacks it wouldnt be a bad approach
With the OLine and system the Gophers have in place, you could place me back there and run for 250 a game. It has NOTHING to do with the RBs. The system the Gophers ran the last few years would fail miserably here because our OLine is straight a$$. It would be a very bad approach.

NOTE: Not disparaging the Gopher RBs. They are as good, if not better than ours.

Both Sanford and Marion seem to have a lot of CU twitter followers. Sanford has some coaches like Coach Mike where Marion is followed by quite a few players including recent signees. Co-OCs? JK... No way we pull something like that off
