Why would there be an official announcement on a Saturday?
Banks didn’t lend that money. Those were all bonds.Default. Let the banks repossess.
help me out -- bonds are typically guaranteed by the issuing body, right? does that mean that UC-Berkeley is on the hook? the state of CA?Banks didn’t lend that money. Those were all bonds.
Depends. Without looking into the specifics, I’d guess that the bonds were issued by the Cal AD, backed by the University itself and by extension, the State of California.help me out -- bonds are typically guaranteed by the issuing body, right? does that mean that UC-Berkeley is on the hook? the state of CA?
That’s one thing cali knows is debt. They are used to it. Just throw it on the taxpayer.Brilliant fiduciary management by the California Board of Trustees to let UCLA scamper off without Cal given that stadium debt.
Now?Now it is getting ****ing ridiculous.
Wow. WTF is the plan here? Maybe they shouldn't have spent like that to be on a site that was going to be ridiculously expensive to meet code for fault line construction.
Big12 still has roomGive me Pitt or VT and Miami instead of UU and ASU
sounds like defaulting would be painfulDepends. Without looking into the specifics, I’d guess that the bonds were issued by the Cal AD, backed by the University itself and by extension, the State of California.
Agreed. The money might be good, but they will have a hell of a time attracting a good coach and running anything close to a successful program under this scenarioCoaches would hate that
If they touch, they touch.
How much are they making Utah pay to get in?
Same thing Fred 2's mom told me one night.
If they touch, they touch.
Nothing wrong with being 2nd tier when the pot is so large. The problem now is if schools like Texas or Texas A&M want your coach in the 2nd tier, they can offer 20+ a year for them. The SEC and B1G will be getting 100+ million outside of Oregon and Washington after all income per school. How do you compete with that large term? You can't
