CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

"and ol' miss has put in their reserves as they increase their lead over CU by 35 headed to the half. this inaugural season in the sec for the Buffs has been rough."

Btw, this was not even a hypothetical. This actually happened in 2011, if you remember.

35-0 Oregon at half time IN Boulder.

Yep I knew it. We are f*cking this up. WHEN Washington and Oregon leave, we are f*cked.

F*CK!!!

Fox and ESPN leagues done expanding. Oregon and Washington probably not going anywhere until TV shuffle in the 2030s.

I want us in a conference with more exposure, access to Texas, and good time slots.

P12 network + reliance on California have both been very bad for our football and moving would improve it even with equal $$ imo

A-****ing-men! Cultural fit, more west coast alums, alleged alignment with like-minded universities - all that got us was a terrible decade of football, late-night timeslots, games on a network that most of the country doesn't get, and further enabled our admin to de-emphasize football.

Can we please get CU back to a real football conference!?!

This is where I am. We’re at the point that we’re not going to get the big time money from the new Power 2. We may as well go to a conference that actually enjoys sports and understands their importance at a university. I don’t give a **** if those schools are in **** holes like Ames or Waco. The people there at least enjoy watching football and basketball.

Oregon and Washington leave the moment they get a chance.

If it cost them $100 million each they will make that up in less than 2 years on conference media money.

If the dip**** 8 stay together with UO and UW without making them sign a massive GOR, then they're dumber than I think they are. And right now I think they're really ****ing dumb.

Forde and Wetzel don’t think the B1G necessarily need or want either Oregon or UW.

Most seem to think it all hinges on them, but what if the 4 corner schools decide they are going to the Big 12? What do UW and Oregon do at that point? Feels like the leverage between those two and the 4C schools is about the same

Oregon could go independent. Washington needs a conference.

So let's check the math - the Big 12 reportedly has invites open to 6 Pac-10 schools.

That's gotta include CU, ASU, UA, UO, and UW. No way it includes OSU, WSU, or Cal.

So who is #6, UU or Stanford? I could see arguments for and against both, the most obvious being that Stanford would never lower themselves to being in a conference with ****bailer, TCU, and BYU, and the Big 12 might be like, **** you, enjoy being independent and hoping for that Big 10 bid. The argument against UU is that BYU is blocking their invite. The arguments for Stanford is that they are an elite academic institution with a lot of money in a big market. The argument for UU is that they would bring a lot of excitement into the conference for the Holy War, they've been very good in football, and they also have a growing population with an increasing number of D1 recruits.

So what's keeping UA, ASU, and CU in the fold? Loyalty to the 4 schools being left behind, whomever they are? Financial guarantees? A sense of pride in being in a conference that thinks it's better than everyone else?

Loyalty is ****ing stupid, because UO and UW WILL stab everybody in the back (****, they'll do it in the front) the first chance they get. Financial guarantees is also stupid because there is no situation where unequal revenue sharing benefits CU, ASU, and UA over everyone else, UO and UW are going to get the lion's share if that's on the table. Which leads to the sense of pride in being in the Pac-10. I think that's actually it. Even though Pac-12 football has been a punchline for years, Pac-12 basketball is continuously disrespected, and pretty much everyone east of the Mississippi thinks of it as a G5 conference in all but name (even more so now), these dips in the Mountain and Pacific time zones think there's still something special about this dying conference. It's sickening.
