Deion Sanders - HC Jackson State

Ok. He gets another week.
Season 3 April GIF by Parks and Recreation

Dan Patrick today said he thinks there’s way to much rumbling in nfl circles about Prime for it not to be a thing. He thinks Prime joins Shedeur in Vegas. Hope it’s not the case. Get on that extension RG

I don't think he jumps to the NFL. But, if there was one place where he could be himself, change the culture by bringing in the people he needed and have the leverage to make wholesale changes - it's Vegas. Drafting Shedeur would make him consider it, however, I am sure the Raiders will have a new coach far before the draft.

There is an absolute 0% chance he can be himself in the NFL, the same league that fines coaches for wearing the wrong hat.

How many times does the dude have to say he has no interest in the NFL? Patrick needs ratings, Prime gets ratings.
has he actually said he has no interest in coaching in the NFL? I haven't seen that.

Sanders has an outstanding reputation for honesty -- if he did really say that, I'd 100% believe it.

like most, I think the biggest risk is losing him to an SEC school. I'm also not convinced the bridges to FSU are completely burned.
No SEC school is giving him carte blanche like CU has

He doesn't even consider himself a FSU alumni so why are they such a big threat? He has been very clear that the bridge there was burned.

I'm not disagreeing with you -- I just don't follow off-field news as closely as many here. What specific comments has he made to make that clear FSU bridges are burnt?

also, while you're likely correct about no SEC school giving him carte blanche, a few points on that:
a. there's a chance Sanders perceives that many SEC schools don't need the full makeover that CU did and that he can find an agreement giving him sufficient control over the AD to be successful that is still short of carte blanche
b. there's a reasonable possibility that an SEC school could promise a bigger NIL budget than CU and that Sanders perceives that budget is going to be necessary to win the CFP, LLC MNC

to be clear, I'm not saying he's on his way to an SEC school, I'm saying I perceive an SEC school (or FSU) to be the biggest risk. I'm open minded to more information changing my perception.

He is petty. He doesn't circle back with recruits who have spurned him. He keeps receipts and airs them during press conferences. FSU rejected him to the point where he doesn't even acknowledge himself as an alum. He is also a man of his word and because of that, I don't see him telling Rick George, the fanbase, numerous media outlets, and all of his players and new recruits that he's not going anywhere and then bailing.

I know I'm pedantic, but has he really said he's "not going anywhere"? or has he said he [present tense] "isn't interested in leaving". because interest levels fluctuate and that doesn't make someone dishonest.

also, re: the petty, I recall him backing down his stance on talking to certain members of media. I perceive Sanders as someone who is open to repairing relationships, which seems aligned with his Christian beliefs.

At least you're self aware.

I can't pull every clip from the past year and lead you to them, especially knowing that you will just argue semantics.

The mechanism to get Prime and Shedeur to Vegas are like strings on a board.
The Raiders season has to end with them as the #1 pick, or, once the season ends, and the Raiders do not have the #1 pick, then they have to complete a trade to get the #1 pick before the draft, or if they wait until the draft to try and get the #1 pick, then they could not have been able to hire Prime yet and their draft day could go sideways. Or, Prime and Shedeur have to go full Archie Manning and FORCE everyone to comply with them not playing or accepting getting drafted elsewhere, which would be very unfriendly to the NFL fairness model.
Prime coaching Shedeur in the NFL could go sideways badly. The fact that it has worked out the way it has is pretty lucky and amazing, but to stretch that luck up to the NFL and then not have more problems with the results is threading a needle

Pay the man, give him a percentage of the program, anything to keep him here, it is a Billion Dollar decision

your semantics comment implies that you realize there's a wide space between saying "I'll never leave" and "I'm not currently interested in leaving". I positive I'm not the only native English speaker who thinks those mean different things.

and back to the issue of maybe him not being as "petty" as some people think he is, check out some of his quotes on forgiveness and second chances:

again, I'm not trying to argue that Sanders is on his way out. I'm only saying that there's valid reasons for my perceptions of an SEC school or FSU being the biggest risk to him leaving. And that I think his Christian beliefs and his honesty support that perception.

and, yes, self awareness has never really been a problem for me. rather my issue is an inability to make rapid and significant changes in light of awareness.
