Deion Sanders - HC Jackson State

I have heard enough rumors and have witnessed enough behavior to believe that our leadership does not support our athletics.

Buffnik, stated that Prime upsets traditionalists whites. I agree and I think they (our leadership) would have problems with the attention that he gets.
So… now your position is now that stuff shirt white people would not like Deion Sanders and not the bogeyman academics? LOL.

The “leadership” is evolving. People are getting older. We’ve had really horrible management at the AD level, so campus PR is at an all-time low.

Ultimately, this “attention” argument is silly since, as I’ve stated repeatedly, Sanders (if hired) will bring discipline to the program.

I disagree

I also think it’s worth noting that it couldn’t hurt having someone like Deion around during the next set of PAC-12 Network negotiations. Hell, he alone might make CU more attractive to the Big 12 or whoever else (Big 10 is a dream) just based on the huge and awesome personality he has. Seriously, he’d steal the show at every media day he was at, everyone else would be insanely boring and bland by comparison.

I’m hyping myself up for the likely inevitable disappointment of literally anyone else that isn’t Deion, lol.

Deion Sanders is probably the most polarizing hire of this year and it will be magnificently good or a tragic failure

I feel the need to point out that we’re talking about a potential HC who was a high school OC 2 seasons ago and has all of 28 games total experience as a college football coach, but we’re worried his staff might be a little light on experience?

If you’re trusting your program to a guy with a coaching resume as light as Deion, then you have to jus trust him and take the good with the bad.
Of course. However, as the hiring committee and AD you absolutely vet that process on who he is bringing in, or wants to.

I view Deon as high risk, high reward. I really don’t believe we are in a position to take that kind of risk, even if the upside is better than what some of the other reported candidates might offer.

Your desire to mold every discussion into something political and then defend our obviously mediocre administration is annoying.

What is the risk?
The risk is that he's had 3 years of HC experience at an FCS program where he's had carte blanche authority to recruit and shell out money to recruits, etc. Making a jump to the P5 is a different animal and his success would entirely depend on just how much support CUAD/President is will to provide. I don't think it's a question that he would recruit like crazy and get the talent level here on par with the top third in the Pac 12, but can he coach at this level and win consistently?

Fascinating take boys... Entertaining thread for sure. All I know is that if my favorite football player of all time becomes the Buffs HC we will no longer be a Nike school. Deion is contractually tied to Under Armour. I'll gladly trade the Swoosh for Coach Prime! I don't know how real the rumors are but it's fun to dream!

There's a UA corporate office in Denver, right?

prime is indeed on paper a high risk hire. If we take the gamble i am good with it. We have made a lot of much much much ****tier bets over the years— embree, dorrell… ****ing neuheisal… Fairbanks…

as for comparing all this to Barnett, things are not the same. i think Barnett got ****ed over but he put himself into position to get ****ed over. It happens. This has nothing to do with hiring a coach like sanders now.

i think we can win in a few different ways in hiring and lose in many more ways. This is one of the bets (safe or not safe, depending on POV) that could be good.

The logic of justifying a questionable decision now by saying we've made really terrible and far worse decisions in the past is, umm, questionable.

But would he have the freedom in recruiting to bring in the players he would want to recruit to Boulder? That's the first question I have about Deion.

Bingo. But because of his recruiting, I'd put him as more of a medium risk, high reward hire. If he can't coach at this level, he leaves CU with a much more talent filled cupboard than it is now*. If he can coach at this level, look out.

*This also depends on how his contract is written. It will likely **** us while making him easy pickings for any and every school.

That's going to be every contract. Thanks RG.
