anyone know if the training table dust up has any real legs?

it cannot possibly be true that portions for a scholarship o-lineman and a female x country runner could be the same.

it just cannot possibly be true.

there should be protesters in front of rick's office, loudly and peacefully letting him know the grand stupidity of this if true...

i am rendered dumbfounded by even the chance this is real.

XC runners run 100+ miles in season. It could be true and also be okay.

I was thinking the same thing. My son runs high school XC and they do 60 miles a week in the summer just getting ready for the season.

Better comparison might be a football lineman compared to a member of the women's golf team.

FB player and WXC athlete may have similar caloric needs, but there would still be a major difference in the amount of fats & proteins the OL needs.

If the program were really serious about it they would have each athlete on a program designed by an athletic dietician. Does anyone think the athletes at Alabama or Clemson or Ohio State are just eating whatever comes out of the kitchen that day?

I used to work with a woman who's son was a gold medal Olympic athlete. Even when he was staying at her home which he did when he was at the Olympic Training Center in the Springs his diet was planned with the team nutritionist.

ok, so the idea that the portions may be the same or similar isn't insane, but what goes into the meal should be wildly different per sport?

also, what about this noise that they don't have unlimited access to food? that also seems to be ridiculous... i am struggling to believe that we are this ****ed up.

Allegedly they get 3 meal punches per day. If they grab snacks, that counts as a punch. I don't know if true. Also sounds like we don't have dedicated nutritionist(s) for the football program.

the 3 punch thing sounds absurd.

like crazy stupid...

as for the no-dedicated nutritionist, i can understand the "theory" of that at least-- one should TECHNICALLY be skilled enough in their field to cover more than just football. altho, again, it would be interesting to know what other p5 programs do in comparison.

this **** is exhausting.

Things may have changed since I lived with some of the football guys, but I know for a fact during the Macintyre years, there was no shortage of food and there was a nutritionist that provided meals for football specifically. 4-5 meals were provided during the day on top of the stipend money that was given for non-freshman. I didn't have to buy groceries for that entire year because the stipend had to be spent at king soopers or safeway. That said, I'm not sure how it compared to other sports. Seemed like a similar type deal for women's lacrosse players, but this narrative that we are starving the football players is false.

And Kelli Brooks honestly doesn't know **** and you can take any information and spin it. I like how she is going after the admin for changes, but this whole thing is nothing.

Texas Tech has a dedicated football dietician within the AD's nutrition group. First one I checked,

the only thing i would challenge about your assertion is as follows: kelli speaks to our players and their families. a lot. she must be hearing complaints about the food and the quantity of the food from the players themselves...

it sounds all too absurd to be true that they are not fed properly but if the players are dissatisfied with the food services then that needs to change right away.

this whole thing is yet another train wreck.

fire everyone.

yeah, but that doesn't make it necessarily "better"-- same as having a dedicated s/c person for the program or not...

back in the day, the CU football coach de facto selected the s/c director and dietician for the the CUAD. if that is no longer true, then that also needs to be looked at.

Most likely this is mostly a big nothing burger other than menu options needing to be tweaked and expanded so athletes are raving about CU's training table instead of griping about some of the dishes or generally.

I don't know enough to have an opinion other than everything needs to be reviewed and improved. I assume there are small, easy and inexpensive adjustments which could be made all over the place and would improve morale + results.

I don't see RG providing the leadership of a "continual improvement in the pursuit of excellence" culture throughout his organization. I don't see him making every position in his department feel valued with attention and expectation that they star in their individual role.

I worked in the AD at the time as a student and agree. The concept they don’t have food (unless this is some brand new occurrence post-COVID) is completely ridiculous

Lotta pearl onion clutching going on in here
we are just ASKING QUESTIONS like "when did rg start STARVING our players? don't you want to know the WHOLE TRUTH?????????????

i am sure bill gates and the illuminati have something to do with it as well. HAS ANYONE checked on this?

also, your sister walks like a cow girl today. you are welcome.

That is fair and this was 5 years ago under a different staff. It's totally possible it's changed. I just think it's low hanging fruit and exaggerated.

It seems like we are making up things to be outraged about at this point - just because some schill on Twitter says it and some morons run with it doesn't make it true.

I know that under MacIntyre & Mel (friends wife was on the S&C staff for both coaches) this wasn't even kind of true, I doubt it would change that much under a new coaching set since there would be nothing to gain by it, and they aren't comped on saving money at training table.
