Can’t tell if that last part is sarcastic, but I feel like it’s fairly standard for programs to be making new hires after the new year, no?Yeah, I'm quoting myself - I still think this isn't a bad idea.
It kind of doesn't matter which coach you put the interim tag on - you'd be laying down a marker now that this performance is unacceptable.
If you really want to make it clear that we're hiring someone new as opposed to giving Chev or Wilson an audition you find one of the retired coaches hanging around Dal Ward to be interim for the rest of the season (Cabral or Barnett would work - no one would think either one would want to be here next year).
We're going into a "bye" week - let Chev throw out KD's playbook and show us what he can do without constraints from above. Give him the opportunity to succeed or fail instituting his own plays.
We might pull out a couple wins this year if the above happens, and we'd be better set for next year.
If nothing happens (and that's the most likely) we'll finish 1-11, maybe 2-10.
And then I'd say we'd have 2/3 odds of an lame duck year with KD in 2022, and a 1/3 chance that he gets fired sometime around January 10th, you know, a great time to be hiring a coach!
