Fire Shurmur

Our defense isn’t exactly lighting the world on fire, either. Not defending Schumer, merely pointing out that he’s one of several issues on this team.

This is Prime’s team. He needs to fix the problems - and there are a lot of problems to fix.

Trying to build the foundation for JuJu, and do a year of Kaidon, with a 2 deep that is like 70% transfers is a monumental task.

If any OC was capable of designing and implementing an offense to do that, it sure as hell isn't ancient ass Pat Shurmur.

Fukk shurmur and everything that his sorry ass, so called playbook, stands for. What can humanly be done to get his lame embodiment out the door with a loud bang and never have to look back again? Can’t muster having to see another pathetic, clueless, strategic performance again…I suffer for the team and can’t even find a good enough adjective to describe his royal sorryness. Puuuke

Since Shurmur had his success and built his NFL reputation on getting really good production out of young & lesser talented QBs, I thought that he might be a great fit for college.

It would help if we could get consistent but average OL play and if the WR's would block on bubble screens. I watched UGa and UTenn bubble screen each other successfully all game.

Even still, you have to have a strategy and stick to it - it just seems like a bunch of random play calls with no rhythm.

Without knowing how complex the system is (basically the modern Shanahan system), I would co-sign that. He’s a good and creative playcaller with probably the most prominent and emulated scheme in the league, but I’m not sure we have the personnel
Has he shown the ability to manipulate his system for the talent he has?

FWIW, McDaniel’s system is considered highly complex for NFL players, with lots of motion , misdirection, and timing. I’m not sure it would be a good system for college.

By success, you mean the one season he was successful in the NFL?

Cowherd had Brady on a few days ago and they talked about QB development and the role coaches and OCs play and if you read between the lines Brady essentially said that some QB coaches and OCs just plain suck and are so stuck in their bubbles that they can't really teach and transmit their knowledge to guys and they're essentially like "here's the gameplan, you figure it out". And when I saw that I kinda had to think of Shurmur and the "NFL pedigree" he has and that he just might not be the guy to be coaching and teaching guys in their late teens and early 20s.
