Fishers return

Not the proximate cause. **** happens. Hope the guy makes a full recovery and is able to play again
I’m not claiming it was the cause, just that it wouldn’t have happened had Fisher taken a knee. It’s a play that wouldn’t have ever taken place.

This illustrates the difficulty of communicating a thought via a message board. I am now being accused of blaming Fisher for the injury. I am 100% aware that injuries happen in football, but thanks for pointing that out. If the game is over, that play never happens. That is a fact.

I enjoyed the return. It was incredible and I loved every second of it. That doesnt mean that it wasn’t a stupid thing to do. Sometimes, stupid plays are really fun, and that was the case here. I can’t believe I’m getting people arguing that it wasn’t a stupid play.

Well is Fisher supposed to be concerned with that? What would he be thinking, I should take a knee so nobody gets hurt? Give me a break, he was trying to make a play for his team and did so.

The game wouldn’t have been over though. Maybe that one player for Cal doesn’t get hurt, but maybe a CU OL does? Maybe Phil gets hurt trying to run out the clock? Maybe a Cal defender gets hurt.

I’m certain there’s a brick wall around here somewhere for me to go bang my head against. I’ll just go do that now. Carry on.

Sacky, just fold your hand. From what I have read, most agree (including me) that the best decision would have been to take a knee. I find that those kind of mistakes are what make college football fun. Suggesting that an injury occurred on a play that “should not have happened” is beside the point.

Now if the person next to me at the blackjack table hits on 18 and causes me to bust, that is a totally different discussion.

Just because you made a stupid, irrelevant point, doesn’t mean you need to be condescending when people call it out.
It’s stupid to point out that taking an interception out of the end zone seven yards deep is a dumb play?

It’s like I’m living in bizzaro world.

But it’s not beside the point. I’m merely pointing out a real reason why it was a stupid thing to to do. Sure, it was mostly just harmless and damn fun to see, but there was an actual consequence.

I have said all along that MM shouldn’t have gotten too upset about it, but dealt with it later. The whole “nice play, don’t ever ****ing do it again” thing is exactly right. I didn’t come here to argue with folks, yet here we are, arguing. It’s insane. Sometimes this place is truly remarkable. I just have to shake my head.

Why are you so bent out of shape? Next time he won't do it.
Now I’m worked up, and I think it’s because I can’t for the life of me understand why I’m getting an argument from folks on this.

Sacky: It was a fun play, but stupid.

Whole group of others: What? It was awesome! You’re nuts!

My head hurts. Trying to get a simple point across is beyond my abilities. I have failed the internet.

That was a consequence of Wilcox being a ****ing idiot. He's lucky it happened to a Special Teams Lineman and not the QB he idiotically kept in the game with an insurmountable deficit. He got what he deserved for trying to make the score look nice when he got his ass kicked.

YES it was dumb, but it worked out. Lesson learned.Everyone gets your point, the fact you keep harping on it is strange..

No, but this is stupid...
Remember, a guy suffered what is probably a season ending injury after that play. Fisher takes a knee, no injury.
The game wasn't over, and as others have pointed out someone else could just have easily been injured in those final 2+ minutes. It sucks that kid got hurt, but you very clearly made a link between Fisher's decision to run it out and someone getting hurt which is indeed, stupid.

I disagree with reaming a kid out for making that play. Let him and the team get a little shine on homecoming. I get MM's outrage if we're only up a few points, but has any team ever come back from 23 points down with 2:30 remaining? The difference in likelihood of winning between returning that for a TD and taking a knee is effectively nil. Plus, the optics are bad when your staff is visibly excited and swinging their arms around as Fisher runs by the bench, then you go full drill sergeant.

(I get that Fisher didn't "know" he would return it for a TD. However, I don't think he would have brought it out if he didn't see an opportunity.)

I appreciate what MM has done here, but he doesn't need to blow a gasket every game. Getting tiresome.

I blame the butterfly in Central America that flapped its wings and thus, through the magic of quantum physics and chaos theory, caused the injury to the Cal player. I also blame that butterfly for global warming, the earthquake in Mexico, and the JFK assassination.

Curse you, butterfly!!

Ralphie ran twice on Saturday. Did that present a significant injury risk to this beautiful animal? Do bison have ACLs? Did labor violations occur with respect to her handlers having to work twice as hard? Did DiStefano authorize it? What if any role did Rick George play? Has PETA taken a position publicly? Should Ralphie be permanently replaced exclusively by Chip? Can Chip run? If so, how fast?.....

(How am I doin?)
