Let us know when RG insists you be paid $4,000,000, instead of $700,000, and signs you to a three year interim contract, fully guaranteed.

There is no way you win the staring game with HCKD.I would, reluctantly, and with stone faced stoicism, have to accept. Provided the Ethiopian grub provision is extended as well.
FIFY.RG is frantically working the phones trying to come up with buy out money and failing because no donor believes in him anymore.
I know you all feel the pain too. I can’t believe that I have to wish for CU losing soooo badly in each game. Otherwise the transition to a new coaching staff delayed because of spin.FIFY.
I acrually think this is what is happening.
Now, given that, what should be happening is PD frantically working the phones to get the money to fire RG and KD, but we all know that would never happen.
At some point, you gotta hope that Saliman realizes he's gonna have to step in and fundraise/make changes.
There might be a way to do it while finnessing a PD retirement at the end of the year while excluding him from the new AD search, but it's going to be a ****show unless Saliman firmly takes control of the process.
Congress.Seriously, I am applying for a job at CU. Is there anywhere else in the country where you can fail miserably and be made rich in the process?
Ushering in McCown for rest of year (who I’m excited about) I think is being done 100% to buy CU another year + with Dorrell. They can now go full “youth excuse” and Wilson will get canned end of year. We’ll then be sold on the new DC really helping to turn the program around!
I’m not falling for that again! This would also hinge on your assuming that CU improves YoY to somewhat watchable offense next year.
A thought experiment for everyone here. Let's imagine that the following happens:
- McCown remains the starter, the OL unit solidifies and we have the same starting 5 for the remaining games, and the offense continues to improve. By the end of the season, CU is around 90th in YPG and PPG (this would require a pretty substantial improvement in the last 9 games- something like averaging 28 PPG and 380 YPG)
- Mostly due to offensive improvement, CU (in horrifying fashion) sneaks out a win or 2 to save KD
- The defense does not improve statistically, and so Wilson is canned at the end of the year.
Is there ANY realistic (or unrealistic) DC hire that would get you AT ALL interested in watching next year? This would also hinge on your assuming that CU improves YoY to somewhat watchable offense next year.
you don't have to cheer for that...they got it handledwhat other school in the entire college football world (other than CU) would justify keeping a coach because he won 2 games and most 10?
this is exactly why we have to cheer for the Buffs to lose big each week. that’s really sad that an athletic department can function this way.
Cal should have won in South Bend a few weeks ago.We got two teams that has been more on par with CU when it comes to the talent of the team in Arizona and California. Lose those two as handily as we have lost our games to date, HCKD needs to be gone pronto!
No way I'm buying any tickets if KD is still coach.I know you all feel the pain too. I can’t believe that I have to wish for CU losing soooo badly in each game. Otherwise the transition to a new coaching staff delayed because of spin.
it’s really a sh***y way to spend a whole football season.
what makes it worse- next season we get CSU and NU on the schedule. That should have been a really fun year. Should be a time to rally the fans behind a new coach. But we’re stuck having to lose both games in order to get change.
Firstly, I recognize that I like rooting for CU. Maybe someday I won't, but as of right now, I have to accept CU is the way that they are. I can't change what they do. I can change my own behavior: I haven't given them any money this year, and if they don't clean house, I'm not going to give them any money next year. If they want to function that way, so be it.what other school in the entire college football world (other than CU) would justify keeping a coach because he won 2 games and most 10?

Only way I’m interested in following season is if they can get CU transfer rules fixed before next year and go ham in portal. But that most likely isn’t happeningFirstly, I recognize that I like rooting for CU. Maybe someday I won't, but as of right now, I have to accept CU is the way that they are. Secondly, It's a thought experiment.
I genuinely want honest answers. Is there any set of circumstances where you'd be in any way interested for another year of KD? I'm not saying "excited;" merely "interested." I strongly suspect the answer is "no" but I was interested if anyone was brave enough to voice a dissenting opinion.
All of the current players transfer out and get replaced by sub-FCS level athletes. Make it a pros vs Joes kind of thing, with our fastest player running a 4.7 in the 40 and the average size of our offensive linemen being 5’9” and 240lbs.Firstly, I recognize that I like rooting for CU. The end result of that is what we are watching every week this year. All of the current players transfer out and get replaced by sub-FCS level athletes. So long as that season would end with KD getting fired, I would watch that **** every week.
My brother once told me I could have his Prius for a few months. He changed his mind once I started using it as a Soup Kitchen. We are stuck with kd the rest of the season is what I am also hearing. He was told he would have this season and they are letting him.
Absolutely true. Everyone, get this bull**** narrative OUT of your head. It’s propaganda from a loser administration. End of story. This talk of CU not being able to pay is pure bull****. They may not want to pay for their mistakes, but they most certainly can.
As an alum and lifelong supporter of Colorado Football, I do not see Karl Dorrell as a successful hire. Given his personal limitations, he is unable to be successful as the Head Coach of Colorado’s Football team.Firstly, I recognize that I like rooting for CU. All three options destroy this program through 2030. Players make programs and no player worth a sh!t is coming here for KD (loser, bade recruiter), an interim with no idea if/when a coach will be hired, or sign for a guy who is likely gone in 9 months). If you think our talent is sub par, just wait. That is 100% fair.
What is factual, and not an opinion on current sentiment, is that the AD can't find anyone willing to pay for a new coach yet. Assuming this stays true, there are only 3 options:
The ONLY thing that changes this is the willingness of the CU admin or a booster to pay up. Until they find this, #3 is the only logical option.
- Keep KD for the duration of his contract
- Fire KD this season and name an interim (Until the AD can secure $$, the interim MUST stay in place)
- Fire KD at the end of the season and name an interim for the 2023 season while you search for a new coach for 2024.
I agree that the rest seems implausible and it might just be. I'll refrain from attempting to convey the detailed logic behind it however. In a nutshell, the belief is that CU can't successfully rebuild from within a major conference and going to a G5 could mitigate some of the primary obstacles CU needs to address in order to become competitive again (lack of admin support, NIL, talent gaps against P5 competition, etc..) because most in the MWC face the same issues.
There are a million reasons to think this is a dumb path forward and I agree with most of them.
This reminds me of something my parents used to tell me: just because they have the money, it doesn’t mean that they have the money for what I want. The program is stuck with KD likely until the end of his contract. Everyone from national media personalities to small donators can scream about the importance of football for the marketability of a university but nothing would change unless a booster covered the entirety of the buyout. The lingering effects of COVID and the testy nature of the administration make it near impossible that decision makers within the athletic department and elsewhere would sign off on paying for both a new coach and the remaining term of a contract. One can talk about how much the university has committed to new buildings or other initiatives and then bemoan the state of football. However, those improvements and additions have been needed for decades at this point in many cases. Nothing changes for the better at any level of the university from affordability, to sufficient student housing, to respectability in athletics until seismic shifts at all levels of administration and stakeholders occur. The inertia of institutions and the unique challenges of how state universities operate within Colorado make that unlikely.

So if we can’t afford to buy him out, I think the logical next steps are to analyze HOW we got into a contract like this. Since we are now the national embarrassment and stuck with that, if we can’t fire the coach, we should get some kind of explanation from the athletic department about how they did this. I mean, most of the fan base seemed opposed to the hire. So they ignored that or didn’t anticipate the reaction. A massive failure. The program is stuck with KD likely until the end of his contract. I'm only repeating what I've been told by someone in the program:
CU has told the AD they will not fund a new coach, this season or next. If they fire KD now, they would need to have a multi-season interim coach which they do not want to do. That is why they wait until after the season to dump KD. As of today, they are willing to ride out the ineptitude. Its possible with a few more losses a booster will come in and save the day but as of now, they can't even get a call back.
Dorrell's defenders (if such a thing still exists) would probably argue he was forced to keep Tyson Summers because of the late in the silly season nature of Mel's departure and the pandemic. I disagree. Zoom is an amazing platform. ****, Air Force and DU both pulled off basketball coaching changes during the height of the pandemic. I know AFA re-hired Joe Scott, but he was an assistant at Georgia before he went back there. Neither of those things are valid excuses in my view. Dorrell could have chosen not to retain Summers.Ushering in McCown for rest of year (who I’m excited about) I think is being done 100% to buy CU another year + with Dorrell.
