Like the hire. Odd career as an OC (used to have a lot of hype with him but failed under Muschamp - not the first one to), but adds the experience you'd want at QB coach. Guess we'll wait and see what he offers as a recruiter. Can't complain, continues MacIntyre's trend of hiring coaches out of a job though.

Not terrible, but not really sure he checks any boxes as a recruiter or as a mentor to Chev.
I like it.
His OC experience is solid as a QB coach but I don't believe he was very successful
or maybe we are going to start pulling a bunch of blue chips out of the sec? yeah. yeah, that's the ticket...
"CU, the vanderbilt of the west"? i kid.
in any case, his resume would suggest he can help montez and our other qbs. that would be good!

He's not the oc so not sure that matters. He needs to recruit and do a better job coaching up the qb's than BL did.
I think he can teach the technical aspects as a QB coach.

Looks like a good hire, recruiting will be interesting, maybe he can assist in Texas with some contacts.
As long as he can actually teach the QB's what play fakes and play action actually is, that is an immediate plus. Our ball handling is so below average that we do not gain space by manipulating linebackers and safeties. Montez will benefit from new ideas and a new face.
10th coach needs to be a duplicate of Coach Chev in every possible way as far as recruiting and social media skills!!!

i like that he seems to have had some success as a qb coach and parlayed that into oc roles with uf and south carolina.

So about that recruiting....
He was making $700,000 last year, can MM pay him more than both his CO-OC's? Not likely, he has to take a little pay cut.
Someone who viewed Roper as a plus OC. Other than Eli he hasn't worked with a lot of "name" QBs. South Carolina did sign a 4* QB this year who I assume Roper was involved in recruiting.
