Karl Dorrell officially named Colorado HC

I don’t know much about him but I’m intrigued, especially if he is a recruiter with connections in California and the west coast/Hawaii.

High risk/reward?
I think the risk would be more about whether we're back in this exact same situation next year when USC finally fires Clay Helton.

Marketing baggage on ESPN and PAC12 Network
Do not want the broadcast to always start with "There is Colorado Coach Steve Sarkisain, remember when he was drunk, and blah, blah, blah"
Needs to be a clean message without disclaimers
Tucker now has marketing baggage in one swoop

I mean.. EB isn't exactly a total saint on the legal/alcohol front either. Sark's issues were far more recent so that has to factored in, but we could do a lot worse than Sark. The UW team he took over was the winless UW team, the main problem there would be he never took them up another level, but I'll take 7-8 win seasons and really good recruiting all day long.

I would be also hesitant about the BoR and their BS reasons for stalling or not supporting things.
I wish him the best on his road back, but he probably had some enablers at both USC and Washington that could have helped him sooner
I’ll leave that to RG to sort out.

Oh you are right, coaches dont wait around for more money. My bad.
The timing of your speculation is off. Kap would have needed to know too many things that happened after he turned down the offers for your scenario to work.

What you are pushing is that Kap knew the following WEEKS AGO:

1. Dantonio would retire the day before signing day (something not even Dantonio wanted to do).
2. Fickell would turn down Michigan State.
3. Michigan State would make Tucker an obscene offer after striking out with Fickell.

Kap knew none of the above. Just silly.

You are right, no one knew their coach was going to quit. No one knew they needed a new coach. No feelers were out way before this all went down. This really happened in 3 days. Im sure you are spit on.

Duff said it quite well. For a moment I had the same thought as you, but then the timing was so off that there is no way Kap could have accurately predicted everything that happened after he turned down the other offers. If he did, he should be predicting the stock market and forget coaching.

You dont believe in back door dealings? Why was MT the only one that got a 2nd offer? While his OL was turning down better deals? Cmon man. It aint that had.

I absolutely believe in back door dealings, I just happen to have common sense and understand timelines as well.

They clearly liked Tucker as a second choice, so they made him a second offer after Fickell turned them down. No one disputes Tucker was their second choice.

You dont think people talk? You think the HC of MSU just quit and nobody knew it was coming. They knew he was gone. They knew their target. They paid the money and got MfT. You really think all this happened in 24 hours?

You are just mixing and matching "facts" to fit a timeline you made up.

I dont have a timeline. IDGAF, he is gone. Just saying I dont think this was a 48 hour deal. I think MSU had feelers out and this was not a surprise to MT.

The 5-7 coach with only one year of head coaching experience wasn’t their first choice.

Pat Narduzzi and Luke Fickell turned them down. Fickell was expected to take the job and met with them on campus before turning it down on Monday because he didn’t like the feel of it or whatever.

That wasn’t predictable and not something that could have been anticipated. Fickell wouldn’t have had such serious talks with them if people at other schools already knew he was going to turn them down.

Do you understand time?

It is clear you do not have a timeline. Thanks for confirming.

IDGAF about your nonsense theories either, so at least we have that in common.
Do you really think this was a total surprise to M****er? He had zero idea this was coming? He just woke up in the moring and was like...wow just got a call for MSU. Should I answer it?
