Ladies and gentlemen, the Prime effect

If the B1G had taken anyone other than UCLA to go with USC, the goal (which they and the networks will deny) to break up the Pac-12 would have failed.
I know that was the goal, and to be sure that the Los Angeles Market was owned by the B1G, but CU, Prime, Denver are currently positioned so very well to be picked up by the B1G, and UCLA is just cannon fodder from now on

Karl Dorrell was the HC of the Buffs when USC and UCLA left for the B1G. CU wasn't even on the short list of expansion candidates at the time.

True, my point is not based on a set moment in time, but rather the final payoff.
Is Rutgers or Maryland turning into the ROI the B1G thinks or thought they are?
We MUST keep Prime and move into a top 40 position no matter what

Not 'turning' (present tense), but 'turned' (past).

B1G media per school payouts went from $26m 2013 to $40m in 2014 and only grew since, keeping them ahead of the SEC.

Adding those schools got the B1G network to generate per household revenue increases by adding the #1 and #9 US TV markets (they already had #3 Chicago and #5 Philaelphia).

All that extra $$$ for the incumbents while those two schools (and NU) took a lesser payout from the conference.

The better question is, over the near future, will those schools add value or decrease value of the conference.

Grew—> has only grown. (Present comparison = present perfect.)

Watching that Well Off Video during the AZ game and seeing the collaboration between Shurmur, Shedeur, other coaches, and Coach Prime was really cool, but really confusing as to how Shurmur does not have total control of the Play Calling Narrative and sequence and the ability to have one play or set of plays that then set up future play calls, and how success in certain play calls could then setup other creative play calls later on based on the defensive reactions.

Maybe, this method that we watch on the video is amazing and intuitive and will continue to pay dividends, or maybe we sometimes get lucky, or Shedeur is just so damn good that plays just get made. I am really loving what I am seeing from him, and besides taking sacks, or choosing to lean towards pass over run is still frustrating, but he is on a roll.

The rest of you are way smarter about this, so just wondering what we are looking at or hearing in all these conversations.

There have been so many years here where younger relatives and relatives of friends have been shamed for rooting for CU at local Colorado schools. “You cheer for the Puffs? Lol! Go Ducks”

And now we have the younger generation in OTHER STATES (as well as Colorado) cheering us on. Will never get sick of that. I hope we can keep Coach Prime until he retires.

I do not see how Prime could or would want to recreate the entire Colorado story at another school. All the stuff would be repetitive, would be full of haters again, somewhat of a copy cat moment. What he has done from 1-11 to 4-8 to wherever we end up is an Amazon special, and going to another school would be pretty dumb and not really fresh or watchable.

The better and fresher story is to keep on climbing, keep on improving and hopefully dominating. Prime can get Colorado to the Top 40 of CFB and it is worth all the money in the world to do that. I think we are on the same page, but Prime has ALL the power and cards, and I do not trust RG or anyone at the school that fully appreciate the value add to the asset.

As much as this board has hate for RG, if there is one person at the University who truly knows Prime's value and will do whatever he can to keep him here, it's him. He's also the primary reason Prime is at CU and will likely be the primary reason Prime stays at CU.

My impression is that he's done with coaching on the big stage (aka college and NFL, maybe he does HS again at one point) when he's done at CU and that he just does something else. Maybe he does TV again, maybe he does something out of the public eye ... the unique thing about him is that he doesn't need to coach, he has enough money so he doesn't have the motivation college coaches usually have.

Yak, I totally agree, but he operates within the traditional means and methods of University AD's and CFB, and things are 100% different now. Prime is not just a coach, and his pure merits as a coach are still developing. Nope, he is a unicorn, and the AD just has the Head Coach, Assistant Coach, and Support Staff salaries to fool with, and maybe the Nike contract, etc, but they do not have a statewide, citywide, programwide creative viewpoint.

If Prime wants to coach after the boys are gone, and wants to stay in College, which I am pretty sure that is all he wants to do, then he must stay at Colorado, and we need to make it essentially his business, his brand, his legacy to stay here. Money alone won't do that, and when the City of Boulder and its businesses improve by 150% in sales because of the Prime Effect, that has to be paid off or given some thoughts about how it can be paid off throughout the organization. I would just blow his freaking doors off.

HCPrime is already getting prime-time commercials, sharing onscreen time to Coach Saban. Not really sure how far "up" he could go somewhere else. The TV ratings for our games are amazing, and he has all the media exposure he could need (and likely handle). Boulder is a great place. CU Admin, for all its faults, had created a solid physical structure for a real program to build on. We were a bit of a sleeping giant just waiting for that spark to wake us up.

Everything HCPrime has said suggests that he agrees with all of that. I know there's bigger coaching money out there, but I don't see that as the carrot it was with Mel. No matter where he goes, he's done coaching his sons--except the odd chance of reconnecting via an NFL team. I don't see that as making much sense.

I believe HCPrime is what he says he is and believes what he says he believes.

Media Exposure is one thing, converting that into full brand power and revenue is another thing.
Many Head Coaches are paid a Salary with some bonuses for their performance, while Prime must continue to win and improve, he also brings so much money to the school and community that having creative incentives and deals in place to give him a share of that.

The AD has done a great job adapting and coordinating with Prime and his folks, and it has been completely reimagined, but I would love to know more about how the bigger and bigger picture is being strategized for.

You need one? Son, I've got piss balloons older than you and most of my cultural references are older than the scandal we're just now recovering from.

At least you were cognizant the last time we won the conference.

You have to qualify for AARP to remember Buffs being a championship team.

Want to hear something sad?

Best team I ever saw in the black and gold was 2016. Lost the championship game and bowl game.

Motivational speaking is his calling. Think promise keepers without the cult

About three weeks ago we were up in Spokane visiting our son at Gonzaga for Family Weekend. While waiting for him in front of his dorm a security guard came over to chat with us, asking where we were visiting from. When we told him "Colorado," he excitedly stated that he's now a CU fan.

Tell me more about this AARP...

This is why he is not going to another college program. The co-branded build has been something quite unique.

Going to have to switch bourbons. I’m a side note, 5430 Alliance commented with some emojis on this post so I assume the partnership with this company includes NIL contributions.

I would guess the post's description saying "Laws Whiskey House is proud to support CU Athletics by donating a portion of proceeds from this release to the @5430alliance , benefiting CU student-athletes across all sports." means that they are probably contributing to 5430...
