LAVISKA SHENAULT IS A BAD BAD BAD MAN

Completely Agree. I am just praying that Shenault can get through the entire season without injury and go in the First Round!

Some sit out a bowl, maybe just sit out the season and wait for that sweet sweet 1st round $$$ to start rolling in.

I know you are being sarcastic, I see the font, but Nick Bosa basically did that. Got hurt (relatively minor injury) after 4 or 5 games, and then just shut it down the rest of the season.

Wasn't it Clowney who did exactly that, just sit his last season?

USC's Mike Williams basically did that...it didn't work out that well for him. I think NFL teams would be raising red-flags with college players sitting out the entire season.

If he's in play at #4 then he's a Heisman finalist and possibly in the top 3 getting votes.

Also, Montez has had some pretty gaudy stats.

This.

If Shenault is in the running to go top 10, Montez is likely going to be in conversation to go in the top 10 as well. Their numbers are going to go hand in hand.

Viska is going to be in the conversation for top 10 because he's 6'2" 220 lbs, runs extremely well and catches everything. He's going to test out of the gym at the Combine. Stats alone aren't going to get Montez in the top 10, or even first round conversation, IMO, unless he has a Heisman caliber season and CU wins 9+ games. Montez is going to have to demonstrate that he can run the offense efficiently, make all the throws consistently, be a leader and makes plays in the clutch.

Montez will make a serviceable backup quarterback in the NFL. I don’t see him as a franchise QB. But as a backup, he can learn the offense and make a few plays if he needs to.You don’t spend a top 10 pick on a backup. I’d expect him to be drafted, but more likely in rounds 5-7.

I don't see him as a 1st rounder or consensus franchise QB, but I also don't believe teams are just going to view him as a backup only. He has to have a good season and demonstrate consistency, but he has the physical skill set that NFL teams covet. His intangibles may make or break his draft outlook.

I know the NFL values the physical characteristics Montez possesses. I just don’t believe those characteristics translate to being a starting NFL quarterback. He will get a chance, though. I agree with that.

Like Shenault, Montez is going to wow scouts at the combine because of his physical traits. Unless his stats scream he is a head case and can't run an offense, he is going to get drafted highly.

I mean Daniel Jones just got drafted #6. Montez is comparable in his two full seasons as a starter, if he continues at his typical rates, he will exceed Daniel Jones in just about every category that the scouts value.

QB is different when it comes to that stuff though. The physical freak at the combine stuff doesn’t carry much weight. His film, interviews, and board work are going to decide where he gets drafted.

Daniel Jones also had the Cutcliffe factor in his favor and ran a true pro style offense. To this point, Montez has run mostly a gimmick offense with majority screen passes and has been mediocre while doing so. He’ll have to prove himself all over again

Hmm, Josh Allen Wyo. QB, crap college team, weak confrence, average stats, losing record as a starter. Physical traits off the wall.

Define "gaudy."
A) The term 'gaudy statistics' has been around awhile, if that's what you mean.
B) For Laviska to be a top 5 pick, he's probably McCaffery with receiving and rushing as inverse (1300 yds in the air, 500 yds on the ground), and 15+ touchdowns on the year. I would assume Montez would be throwing those passes, so maybe 3000+ yards / 20+ TDs with Shenault's help. Those are good stats for him and would put him well into the top half of the Pac12 with Browning and Minchew moving on this draft.

Personally, I see Montez being a third to fourth round pick. He just hasn’t shown enough on the mental side of the game. The measurables are certainly there but, decision making and reading defenses is questionable at best.

I suppose there’s always Cleveland.
