Leavitt to Oregon

I certainly didn't mean The Rise wont continue without MM or anyone on the staff, actually I think it will. With coaches leaving because of success, CU will continue to get a fresh influx of new ideas. Some will work, some won't, but getting out of the deep hole was the first step in many years of success to come. We have the right people in place.

Reminder that Saban now stockpiles asst. coaches as well as 5star reqruits. 5-10 years ahead of us. This is what every program is aiming for.?

One year, and I never expected more than 2 here. It was odd that the right situation did not materialize this year. So he will take a big payday and see if next year is the charm.

It's more the the coke tweet though. Mac seems to not what to give Leavitt any credit specifically always mentioning the whole staff. And Leavitt didn't mention working with the staff or Mac giving him an opportunity. That on top of how the whole announcement was made. There was obviously some underlying issues going on there. I'm thinking the rumors of Mac and Leavitt not really getting along may have been more than rumors.

That seems dumb though, mac does the same thing on the offensive side. Many people on here got pissed when he didn't give chev a bunch of credit in interviews for the recruiting and offensive improvements but that's what mac does and honestly seems like the best thing to do anyways.

That might have been a bad example, but there just seems to be more that went on here than just Leavitt taking a pay bump. Maybe not, it has just all been a little abnormal.
 
If you get to their position in this incredibly competitive profession, you have a giant ego. It seems like Mac doesn't want to give individual credit that might take away from what he has done and Leavitt being upset he didn't get more credit from Mac. Egos clashing in football is nothing new. Leavitt handled his departure in a bush league manner and since I don't like Oregon, I'll have a hard to rooting for Leavitt while he's there. Personally, I think Leavitt thought he was a better head coach than Mac and couldn't take having him as his boss anymore.

Mac gives out tons of credit, he just doesn't single anyone out good or bad and praises the players a ton.
 
Last year I was reading/posting about how MM was at the end of his leash and JL would be a fine head coach candidate. MM made a great hire in JL and another this year in Chev. Coach of the Year accolades follow. Now it's time to make another great hire. JL wasn't going to stay at CU long term as an assistant anyway. He got his golden ticket back into college coaching (thank you MM and RG) and he cashed it in.

Bill Parcells school. I never remember Parcells talking about Belichick when giving credit to his defense, even when they were winning Super Bowls with the Giants. But what he did do, if you look at his coaching tree, is work his ass off to develop those assistants and get them opportunities to further their careers in coaching while showing a lot of loyalty to them.

There have been some horrible head coach vs. defensive coordinator situations - the '85 Bears comes to mind when it was Ditka vs. Ryan, showing that the adverse relationship can work. Even though that "worked," there was a huge rift between offense and defense on that Bears team, and if they were college athletes and not pros, I think the team would've fallen apart.

MacIntyre and Leavitt seemed to keep things professional around the athletes -a tribute to both of them, and the team was one (and I think the large amount of seniors and fourth year juniors on the team helped in this regard). Sometimes you can have too many chefs and not enough cooks, and maybe this was the situation.
 
So, we all agree, we dodged a bullet with JL leaving before the whole Mac and JL relationship deteriorated and destroyed the program yet again. Right?
