Men's basketball - 2021 March Madness Selection Sunday (Selection show on CB beginning at 4:00 PM MT; #5 seed Buffs open up against Georgetown)

It'll be noon there local time. But the real advantage is Hinkle Fieldhouse, home of the Butler Bulldogs of the Big East. Georgetown plays there every year. Familiar surroundings for them.

Not a big one. Very little in the way of fans and the NCAA will have this set up to limit any advantage that Big East or Big 10 teams have.

I realize the joke is supposed to be that Walton is a Pac12 homer, but this tweet simply isn't grounded in reality. I spent the second half of last week hearing him talk about Illinois and Gonzaga as much as he did any Pac team for which he wasn't commentating a game at the time.
Ok, this is getting a little ridiculous. NOBODY is picking us to beat Georgetown. It's like everyone forgot we had a 6 game winning streak because of one flukey loss to Oregon State.
Vegas is

ok, my bad. It's just that I think jokes are funny when they're based in reality.

I'll try to restrain myself in the future.

Tad and Ewing's careers overlapped. Did they play in NCAA tourney the same years?
One thing for sure, with ewing, there will be a ton of press about this game.

add: Ewing's team won the '84 tourney. Tad's team played in it, no idea how they did

I am the truest of fans. My heart is with the buffs, my head is with Georgetown.
WRONG.
1) They had a nice little run. A week removed from that momentum will basically kill it.
2) The Big East was an absolute SH!T conference outside of Villanova and Creighton and Villanova tanked when they lost their stud guard.
3) The fact that they are getting so much hype right now is a distraction. I'm sure their heads will be be gigantic come gametime.
4) They are basically only 6 deep.
5) Underdog and pissed off Buffs are usually really good Buffs.

Buffs 73-64. BOOK IT.

The Buffs usually blow big leads and don't play well down the stretch. That has to be addressed. Rebounding is also a problem. An area Georgetown excels at. Georgetown big men are active. Georgetown play hard for 40 minutes. A team that has gone through adversary is dangerous, they have a chip on their shoulder, something to prove. I watched their game against Greighton. It was impressive how they took it to Creighton for 40 minutes, didn't let up. Reminded me of the Tony Delk, Walker Kentucky wildcat team. But CU can win the game. Must have a good plan to stop or contain their big men especially Biles. Got to play solid defense and hit their 3 point shots. Wright got to be aggressive.

Georgetown and Colorado’s rebounding rates are almost identical. It is not a problem for CU. Both teams are good rebounding teams. Georgetown almost lost as many games this season as Kentucky did in Tony Delk’s four seasons combined. (12 to 18, I looked it up)

Georgetown had their season suspended due to Covid 19 and then restarted. Lost several players to transfers. The program was in crisis mode early the year. They are now playing at their best at the right time. Also getting some blue chip prospects next year. Georgetown is a program on the rise.

What exactly do blue chip prospects next year have to do with a game in 5 days?
I hope Georgetown is on the rise. It’s good for the sport. It means jack squat for this game.

Not a huge advantage like it would be if it were their home court, but Georgetown has had remarkable success playing against Butler on that floor, going 4-1 over the past five games and shooting over 50% from the 3-pt line (49 for 95) during that stretch (Ewing as HC). Though they did lose to Butler the last time they played there in January.

Someone even did a deep dive analysis on how well they historically have played on that court, prior to their last visit there a couple months ago:
