Men's basketball - 2021 March Madness Selection Sunday (Selection show on CB beginning at 4:00 PM MT; #5 seed Buffs open up against Georgetown)

Could be wrong but not worried about Georgetown. I actually kind of like the draw. If we get to Mich, I’ll be nervous.

Everyone went nuts when G-Town beat Villanova the #1 seed in the Big East tourney. But that's like OSU beating Oregon. They are long-time rivals who play each other all the time and are intimately familiar with each other. They get emotionally worked up to beat their rival, and know how to game plan against them. But when it comes to an unfamiliar opponent, they have to start from scratch. Ewing has never experienced Tad Ball and I'm confident he'll be totally confused, then angry - if they even let him in the venue without incident. Someone should pay the security team in Indy just to hassle Ewing over his credentials.

I like playing teams not familiar with our guys.
Why beating OSU a third time was tough
We can handle height if we can handle USC

And Villanova lost Gillespie right before the tournament.

Georgetown isn't in the tournament if they don't win their conference tournament. Hell, they might not even make the NIT. They are hot now, but the game is a week away and keeping that momentum will be tough. Plus, Knicks security doesn't even know their coach.

We're in good shape. Stop your worrying. Go Buffs!

Basically having a week off does help a team that is playing out of their minds

History has shown that two of the most important factors in advancing in the tournament is having a difference maker at guard who can control games and having multiple guys who can score including off the bench.

As college PG Kin is right at the top. Others may be seen as better pro prospects but as a college PG he can do it all. He can handle pressure and turn it into opportunity, he can score points, he can control tempo, he rebounds and disrupts opposing point guards defensively.

The Buffs have multiple players who aren't consistent scorers but who on any given night can put up 15-20 and who can hit the outside shot and score inside.

Of the bench very few teams are prepared to handle a guy like Horne. A muscular forward who can score inside but who can also bomb from the 3 point line.

CU has weaknesses, but Georgetown and even 2 seed FSU are far from perfect teams.

If it was easy to be sure who's winning every tourney game the casinos would be in big trouble but there are legitimate reasons that CU is a 5 and short a couple games that they just didn't show up and play as well as they should have resulting in ugly losses (1 1/2 if you look at the Utah disaster) the Buffs could easily been a 2 or 3 seed.

I know they have guards that can shoot, typical when we make the tourney. I haven't seen them much, sure they have some bigs too, Georgetown always has and does. How good their bigs are, idk? We shouldn't even worry about that, worry about your own game.

They got Chudier Bile from Denver South playing big for them, any background on him?

Late bloomer, didn’t really warrant a whole lot of recruiting out of high school played on a really good Otero JC team, then left Bradley after a semester and played at Northwestern State a not great super small D1 team for a couple years played well enough to grad transfer up and honestly has played his best basketball down the stretch. Very athletic, kinda like the Warith Alatishe from OSU but rebounds less.

The name + momentum is scary, but as a few have noted, we play better as underdogs in big games.

Things are different this year, hell we only lost the last game by 2 after a six game winning streak. Buffs will be ready and fresh to Tad ball the Hoyas into the ground.

Crazy long trip to where he is!
Will be motivated for home state team

His basketball analysis is good. I get that people don’t like his tangents into non sense, but when he actually talks basketball he blows most color guys out of the water. I personally enjoy the nonsense too.
I like it during a late night midseason game, but during the PAC12 Championship Game, give me 90% Basketball brilliance and 10% funny nonsense.

Ok, this is getting a little ridiculous. NOBODY is picking us to beat Georgetown. It's like everyone forgot we had a 6 game winning streak because of one flukey loss to Oregon State.

Better to lose the conference tourney game than lose the first round game. Buffs will be up for this!

UConn had the blueprint to beat Georgetown this season. 2-0 this season with double-digit wins both games, first year in return to the Big East. They are led by a 6-5 do-everything So. guard (James Bouknight) who is like their McKinley Wright, though he projects as a late 1st rounder in the draft. I think Hoyas will be surprised by Kin's quickness and defensive ability.
