Official 2016 Coaching Carousel Thread - How safe is Kevin Sumlin´s job?

Norvell leaving the PAC12 south is good for CU. hopefully he brings Chip Long with him and they recruit the Midwest and the south instead of the west coast and CO.

Missouri promoting their DC Barry Odom

Seems pretty humiliating after all they'd gone through this year that it took some time and leaked names of interest in other candidates before promoting him. I know he was in the mix at Memphis, too, it just seems like PR wise it would've looked better if they announced Odom was their guy almost immediately after the committee met to discuss their plan going forward. Having Campbell go elsewhere, Herman stay put, and Dykes shop himself around to who knows in that time without a coach looked like MU wiffed.

Odom seems liked by the team though so maybe he'll keep the mostly winning culture Pinkel brought to the team.

how bad does dykes want out of cal? he's apparently interviewing for every open d-1 hc position in the nation.

Mizzou looks to be in the lead for worst HC search. Fedora gives them the foodcart without even stepping on campus, Herman never even looks, Richt takes the Miami job about five minutes after leaving UGA, Mullen Dykes Fuentes et al. swim by and keep going., then they promote from within. Maybe Odom will do well, I hope so, I never had any real animosity for Mizzou.

All reports are that Richt is one of the good guys and his unwillingness to bend the rules as far as his competition is what held him back at UGA.

At Miami, he might not need to. You can play it straight there and pull in crazy good talent from your backyard. Then he'll grab a top QB prospect because he gets dudes in the League. I think it will work.

FIFY. The Miami boosters, like U$C's, know to actively hide their actions from the school.

Things are probably starting to get awkward for Dykes and Mullen given they've both been publicly reported as interviewing for other gigs but are still at their current schools and positions are starting to fill up...unless one of them has a burning desire to coach at UVA.

You sleep in U. Miami PJs, don't you?

Isn't Miami on probation, like, every decade?
What U$C has made into an art form, Miami just really figured out this last time around. The NCAA's most recent sanctions against U$C had little to do with the actual case and more to do with a long history of getting away with **** because the boosters knew to insulate the school from their actions. Whereas Miami finally figured that part out.

Miami's current problem is that their boosters' sources of capital are less legitimate than U$C's boosters' sources - it's a little hard when your biggest boosters keep ending up in jail.

Herman has officially signed a 5 year deal with Houston at 3 per. Guarantees significant facility improvements. 2.25m buyout next year.

It's not like their AD went public with a list of qualifications and then hired someone that didn't meet them. So it's all relative.

I really wonder if Oklahoma's push for the Big 12 to get to 12 teams with a championship game along with creation of a Big 12 Network (LHN/ UT is the obstacle) is putting enough pressure that at least part of that will happen and the conference is going to expand... and with that, that UH has applied enough political pressure as the 3rd largest university in Texas to ensure it will be one of the teams added.

Yeah, you gotta feel like an outlier if you are KU, KSU, ISU, and WVU. Wouldn't surprise me if they eventually restructured their tv contracts and gave them all a little less of the pie.

What? **** them and their fifth down whining.

Haha, Cal should just fire him already. He obviously doesn't want to be there, and they need to get a head start on looking for a new HC.

I was being hyperbolic but I can see why ECU would see a fit, already having an offense and personnel tailored to fit the Leach tree. Maybe Elf Morris gets a call. He is really young.

I don't know that this is neccessarily the case anymore. UT's payout from LHN is based on how much money the network makes and indications are that it isn't close to what they thought it would be.

Not unreasonable to think that ESPN would gladly shut down LHN and replace it with a B12 Network with ESPN having equity ownership. UT would still be the biggest piece of the programing but they would also be able to promote themselves using all the schools and expand their footprint as well.

Don't know how big a media factor UH is in Houston but that is such a large market that even a share of it is big.
