Official 2016 Coaching Carousel Thread - How safe is Kevin Sumlin´s job?

Sooooo, not our next OC? So close!

I'm still holding out for Kelly as our next OC. Heard that he's got a strong affinity for CU due to his name being 'Chip', so there's probably fire with this smoke.

Big rumor: It's here on the internet so it has to be true.

Some guy named Peyton who knows a lot about the QB position is going to be out of a job next year and wants to be our QB coach. Lots of people have mentioned him mentoring QBs in the NFL so he would be perfect.

Schlabach came back with richt to UM being down to logistics. Love this move. He's going to win big early there with that QB. Saw from a Memphis guy that gig is Barry Odoms if he wants it, but Odom must think he's got a shot at the mizzou gig. Anything that creates more turnover in our league is a good thing on dykes.

Did I read it correctly on Reddit that Lindgren is interviewing for the OC position for the Ducks? I guess it worked out well for them last time.

Sonny Dykes to Virginia? I don't understand which job he actually wants between Virginia, SCAR and Mizzou.

Oh man would that ever piss me off. CU paid for Lindgren to learn his job as an OC and to see him leave for the Ducks would be too much.

Missouri people are frantic this morning, thinking they're going to get Herman. Odom is waiting impatiently, and has Memphis on hold.

This is a very entertaining time of the year in college football and it has nothing whatsoever to do with the game being played on the field.

Several hirings are in:

Minnesota: Interim HC/DC Tracy Claeys tagged to replace the retiring Jerry Kill
Hawaii: former QB Nick Rolovich gets the gig to replace Chow (h/t nik)
VT: Fuente takes over (h/t Jens)
Illinois: Interim HC Cubit gets a 2 year deal (h/t Jens).
Iowa St.: Matt Campbell from Toledo
USC: Clay Helton gets five year gig
UCF: Scott Frost the new man.
UGA: Kirby Smart (h/t nik)
Maryland: DJ Durkin.
Toledo: Jason Candle.
Miami: Mark Richt ( I think this is a great hire)

Openings:

UNT: Doug Meachum, TCU Co-OC pulls out from consideration at UNT. Seth Littrell now the target.
The other USC: Spurrier to retire as in right now (h/t to Sno); ( Will Muschamp, Lincoln Riley, Sonny Dykes, RichRod rumors)
Tulane: Curtis Johnson out (The Right Reverend Houston Nutt and Terry Bowden in the mix)
UL_Monroe: Todd Berry fired.
Syracuse: Schaffer out. (Ed Orgeron, Dino Babers rumors)
UVA: London out (h/t cmgoods) (Sonny Dykes, Jeff Brohm rumors).
Rutgers: Kyle Flood out. (The AD went first FWIW, she is out too).(Chris Ash, Al Golden rumors)
Mizzou: Sonny Dykes, DC Odom, Tom Herman, Troy Calhoun, Mike Bobo)

Secondary market:

Memphis: Fuente goes to VT (Mizzou DC Odom a leading candidate)
Cal: Dykes flee Berkeley. (Maybe, maybe not)
KjSU: Snyder may or may not retire, 76 years old now, KjSU looking at possible replacements, but Snyder advises he will hang on, like a nagging cough.

Odds and ends:

UT (because they need their own category) Strong has the support of the Admin. (for now), weirdly says he will not talk to Miami, Miami says he is on their short list. Who knows? As the big cigars turn....

Not really on the hot seat, but Dykes is rumored to be unhappy in Berkeley.

Dan Mullen supposedly looking for the exit in Starkville.

Jeff Tedford resigns BC Lions gig and is in search of a college job. Some commentators say Cal would take him back, I find that hard to believe, but stranger things have happened...

Lindgen interviewing for the OC at Oregon?
