Official 2016 Coaching Carousel Thread - How safe is Kevin Sumlin´s job?

Big rumor: It's here on the internet so it has to be true.

Some guy named Peyton who knows a lot about the QB position is going to be out of a job next year and wants to be our QB coach. Lots of people have mentioned him mentoring QBs in the NFL so he would be perfect.
I know you're not serious, but has PFM ever stepped foot in Boulder or shown any interest in the local school?

Pure sarcasm. Responding to all the other names being thrown against the wall. Also to all those who think he has been some kind of coach/mentor to younger QBs.

To my knowledge PFM doesn't know CU exist in football terms. He knows that he gets a check for reading a script that includes the words UC Health.

He gave Butch Jones a call to try and help get him to CU before Strong fell through at Tennessee.

Oh man would that ever piss me off. CU paid for Lindgren to learn his job as an OC and to see him leave for the Ducks would be too much.

Silver lining is it at least forces Mac's hand to bring in someone new and hopefully better.

Thanks for the link!

I'm starting to take this thread off topic, but since MM recruited Eli to Ole Miss, that's a counter-argument to all of the negative sentiments on this site about his recruiting and talent evaluations. I know he's busy, but it'd be helpful to have Manning (Peyton) on the sideline occasionally up in Boulder if they can manage it.
Recruiting a Manning to Ole Miss is like recruiting a McCartney to CU: really ****ing hard to mess up - no one gets "recruiting cred" for that. Getting Peyton to Tennessee was a different story.

The highest profile guy that MM directly recruited to Ole Miss was Patrick Willis. Just so happens that Jim Leavitt was his position coach at SF, as well, and has a great relationship with him to this day. He is a guy that they should try to bring on campus... especially for the LA 5 OV.... if that's legal... or even if it isn't...

Dickrod trajectory at AZ is pretty lousy. SCAR would be much better taking a chance on a coordinator I'd think.

He had a rough season with injuries this year which hurt the team but he's made a bowl game every year and won a pac-12 south title.
he's gone:
8-5
8-5
10-4
6-6 (likely 7-6)
He's the first winning coach they have had since Tomey left aft the 2000 season - that's pretty good at Arizona.

A look at in-conference records:

Mike Stoops went 2-6, 2-6, 4-5, 4-5, 5-4, 6-3, 4-5 and then his disaster year.
Rich Rod has gone 4-5, 4-5, 7-2, 3-6.

My opinion is that he's not that good of a coach now that the world has equalized a bit on the whole zone-read offense that he pioneered. I happen to be from Arizona and I think he's a giant douche and won't be long-term successful anywhere. That opinion looked pretty dumb last year, looks a little more sane this year, and may or may not prove to be true. But I think there should be at least a little doubt in the man.

Observing the behavior of Missouri fans on the Cardinals board has been vastly entertaining for me. Current thought is that they may have come full circle back to Odom. This morning they were sure they were getting their 'home run' - Herman. Probably 300 new posts today.

Mark Maguire for S&C coach?

Unlike most, I suspect that Helton is going to be a good hire at SC. I never like either the Kiffen or the Sarkisian hire.
Richt to Miami is also interesting. He will certainly recruit well there.

The comments from the donor at Cal were interesting - we aren't going to pay Dykes because we paid Tedford too much. Looks like Cal is de-emphasizing football.

According to local sports radio, there is a greater than 50% chance of Rich Rod to South Carolina. Names being thrown out to replace him are the Utah State HC, Dykes and (as a long shot) Dan Mullen. Apparently the UofA AD hired Mullen at MSU.

I was waiting to see what norvell would do with some of those qbs he has brought in but memphis is a good job, good for him.
