Official 2018 Fall Camp Thread

Having both your OLB's (putting Taylor at BB as a OLB) at or under 230 will make for some issues on the edge of the defense.

Well we did put 65 on them and got a coach fired. Shouldn't we shot for 66?

They were going to replace him with Pelini one way or another had we beat them that day on a game winning FG.......or so the shuckhead fans who were sitting around me said.

"His pad level has (improved) so much this fall camp," defensive line coach Kwahn Drake said. "He's starting to strike more and I think that's going to help us create that knock-back on the line of scrimmage."

So much good stuff happens when the NT gets a push. So much bad stuff happens when he doesn’t. We need a big year out of Javier.

Miller's doing his best to be one of the corners out on the field on game days, and he agrees with his head coach that he's got to get better at showing up every day, every play.

"(Consistency) is one thing I'm working on," Miller said. "I feel like (the bad moments) are because I'm trying to think a little bit too much sometimes.

EARLY-CAMP DEPTH CHART: X wide receiver: Ento or Shenault, Arias, Lawson. Z wide receiver: Winfree, Brown, Thomas, Chiaverini. H wide receiver: MacIntyre, Nixon, Bell or Jackson, Stanley. Y wide receiver: MacIntyre, Jackson, Chiaverini.

See, this is where the new redshirt rule can really help CU. Get Arias out there in a few of the games where we are up big and see what the kid can do, without blowing a year of eligibility.

Mention of TE Jones catching a pass is the first positive thing I can remember hearing about him that doesn’t have to do with his size. Hopefully he’s learning quickly and can play this season.
He's pretty impressive to watch. Physically imposing with big hands. Moves like a basketball player. Just needs a lot of work on understanding a more sophisticated offense along with all the techniques. I think he'll probably be more focused on the H-Back type stuff like Poplawski was last year and then they'll build on that into the in-line (Y) type stuff more for 2019. I wouldn't expect a complete TE this year.

Some good shots of Evans and Lee. A healthy Evans definitely eases some concerns about the RB position for this year.

So, I was against the idea of D. Lee redshirting and sitting out last year. It really didn't have to do with his talent, more I felt the risks involved with that route could ultimately end up wasting a roster spot this year because he may not remain engaged with the team and getting better as a player. After looking at these pics, it looks like he has gained 15 lbs and is leaner than ever.....which points to me being 100% wrong with my concerns.

D. Lee is a talented kid, and with his current build....I see there being a better than good chance of him being a big time surprise this year. Would love to see that.

Anyone notice Tchangman eclipsing the sun?!?!

Alex Fontenot - RB - Buffaloes
HERO Sports' Andrew Doughty expects Colorado redshirt freshman RB Alex Fontenot to receive a close look in camp following his strong offseason.
Fontenot (6'0/195) was one of Colorado's standout performers in spring ball. Virginia Tech transfer Travon McMillian is expected to work as starter this year, but the former Hokie has seen his rushing numbers tail off significantly over the past two seasons after he bolted for 1,043 yards as a true freshman back in 2015. Buffs HC Mike MacIntyre would be wise to keep his options open.

I haven't heard much on the Fontenot front so far in camp. I guess I haven't heard much on McMillian, either, outside of the people here who went to the open practice.

Was Fontenot given a lot of run in the spring because it was him and Bisharat?

Pretty sure Evans and Lee were out.

As good as the WR group is, I don't know how they can keep Jaylon Jackson off the field. Dude's a playmaker.

He would probably be the highest rated WR (or any position) recruit on the roster, coming out of high school had he actually played his Junior and Senior years. Kid has the talent to do whatever he wants on the field.
