Always good to let the players hear another voice, especially during the camp grind. Love the connections to the past, too.
And how great is it to see Zim up and at practice!
Yeah, was gonna change that but had to take care of a work call real quick.Still is, but I know what you meant.

The stuff on Sherman's at the end. Nice insights from HCMM on whether he's a better fit at guard or tackle.
Will be interesting. Sherman being at 275 almost ensures he will play tackle, at least for a while.I really liked the move to LT during the scrimmage. I think Kaiser gives us needed size in side and it also puts our 5 best OL out there at the same time.
12/25 fall camp practices in the books. Position battles getting toward the end with depth charts getting figured out.

My hope is Adams learned from last years rotation. Very difficult to get a rhythm as an oline. Makes sense to move Kaiser inside with Sherman outside and trickling Moretti in until he is fully ready.
The best bet for this CU team at oline is Moretti-Sherman-Pursell-Lynott-Haigler. I think that is probably your most talented group, but a gigantic question mark if Moretti will ever be healthy enough during the season to take on full time duties and if Sherman can get big enough to handle a Guard position by the end of the season.
He's been mentioned fewer times than Shamar Hamilton this fall. What's been happening with Terriek Roberts? Any chance he gets in the DL rotation one day or is he just another guy?
IDK. Our coaches don't seem to think its ok to carry fat as an o lineman. Some of the best linen in the country aren't exactly carrying no bad weight. Many are quite soft.I just do not get how Sherman is only 275. Seems to be a consistent problem with the OL in this program.
I agree. But at the same time, we do play at altitude with one of the quickest paced offenses in the country. So I get the rationale for this while also thinking that the program takes it a little too far. I'd rather see another 10-15 lbs of bulk even if it wasn't good weight.IDK. Fat fatty fat is just that. Usually slow and soft. I would rather see 275-280 good weight than 295-300 Big Mac weight. Edwards is a good example.I agree. Worse than Auschwitz.Does not have to be either/or. 275 for a starting OL in the P5 is ridiculous.
Eh not really. Maybe for an NFL prospect OT, but not really C or G. Check Stanford’s roster. Pretty much the gold standard. Most of their OL are < 300 lbs and many are right around 275-290lbs.Does not have to be either/or. 275 for a starting OL in the P5 is ridiculous.
yeah but what is the thread count?IDK. Our coaches don't seem to think its ok to carry fat as an o lineman. Some of the best linen in the country aren't exactly carrying no bad weight. Many are quite soft.

Walker Little (LT): 314
Nate Herbig (LG): 334
Jesse Burkett (C): 300
Brandon Fainaika (RG): 315
A.T. Hall (RT): 299
Foster Sarrell (LT): 314
Dylan Powell (LG): 281
Brian Chaffin (OC): 275
Nick Wilson (RG): 273
Devery Hamilton (RT): 287
That is the two deep. Yeah, definitely some guys in the 275-280 range, but the starters are well above that range.
Since Washington is also in the conversation for best OL in the conference, here is their starting lineup:
Trey Adams (LT): 327
Luke Wattenberg (LG): 295
Nick Harris (C): 293
Jesse Sosebee (RG): 312
Kaleb McGary (RT): 318
so now we're taking roster measurements as gospel? Weird.
Haigler - 295
Tonz - 295
Pursell - 290
Lynott - 300
Kaiser - 300
Sherman - 290
Moretti - 295
Of course, these are just what are listed on the website. You’re right, though, it seems like there’s a problem with getting our OL past that 300 mark, outside of Roddick (340), Lytle (315) and Jynes (310).
And the big thing here is that CU's OL has not been delivering 5+ yards a carry and great pass protection. If it was, you wouldn't hear a peep out of me on this subject. But if you deviate from the norm and your results aren't there, criticism and pointed questions are very justified. Not as gospel, but many of those are oddly specific.
More was about Sherman supposedly "up" to 275 and Haigler struggling for the last few years to get to 295. Coaches really want to keep guys lean and it ends up being a detriment on the field.
Worse than Auschwitz.
I can tell you from a first hand OL player experience that the staff does not believe that extra body fat is helpful in our offense, in our altitude. They want them to be less tired and want all 5 to be able to pull and be as nimble as possible. They do emphasize strength and overall lean body mass. Body fat is not a goal.
