Why do you say that? Only thing I can think is Kelly has run his course at ND (he's about at the limit of how long coaches typically stay there) and this would be an opportunity to move to another marquee program and try to build them back to the elite level.

Because I think Kelly and ND may both be ready to start fresh. Kelly at a school without the elevated academic hurdles and really weak overall outside of Clemson probably flourishes.

The only G5 in-stater they should consider is Heupel-but Lane there would have the makings of a soap opera. I don't know about their AD's finances-but can they get a Campbell/Mark Stoops (who they'd have to drop another $10-20m to buy out) if they owe Willie T $17m?
Lol why the hell do they think they can get Stoops? He's coaching in the XFL because its LESS stress for him. I don't see Franklin there either. Rhule? Yeah, maybe. Mike Norvell makes more sense (and borderline scares me) there than at FSU.

The immediate list on the FSU 247 board is PJ Fleck HC Minn, Mike Norvell HC Memphis, Mark Stoops HC Kentucky , Bob Stoops semi-retired, Jeff Scott OC Clemson, Brent Venables DC Clemson, Mark Richt retired, Mike Leach HC Wazzou, Matt Campbell HC ISU, Dave Clawson HC Wake. (WTF on Richt, but old ties I guess, everyone else on the list is certainly possible.)

Matt Campbell isn't having a crazy good season, but that guy has built a solid program at ISU

Watch the nightcap that CF and Herbie did last night-Herbie (who was buzzed when he was saying this I'm sure) ripped them a new one right after Fowler got done talking about us. Taggart deserves what he's getting. Only question to me was if he'd get a third year because they couldn't afford to ax him.

That’s a good list. I think Stoops is done, although they will likely make him say no.
Any AD who hires a coach at a school that wants to win championships who doesn't make Stoops say no should be fired for gross negligence.
