Official 2025 Fall Camp Thread

Seems there’s some speed at LB now. Lane discipline and resisting the urge to over pursue will be key.
Well.. to me, ILB is a position that requires a bunch of intangibles, including an almost instinctual ability to read the play developing and be in the hole before the back is.

I’m very glad we’ve added speed and athleticism. We’ll see if we can control the middle of the field.

Ralphie VI is retired. We've known she doesn't want to run for a long, long time. ****, we wrote that she needed to retire this off-season. https://buffsblog.com/is-it-time-to-retire-ralphie-the-ralphie-vi-conundrum/

Regardless, it's f*cking malpractice they don't have another buffalo ready to go this season. Unbelievable.

We need someone else running the Ralphie program.
About time they retired her. I feel bad for Ember, but she clearly has never had "it" and never wanted to run. You could tell she hated it because she got so much faster when she saw her trailer.

They've been getting a replacement and working with that buffalo for months already (since mid last season). It isn't as easy as just finding a new one and getting it to Folsom Field.

I know. But this buffalo has been terrible, and we've known she was terrible for 4 years. It isn't like Andrew Luck retiring out of the blue. They should've been working on this for the last 2 years. And a little bit of redundancy wouldn't hurt wouldn't hurt.

From a close friend of mine who is tied to the Ralphie Program "Hopefully we will get her out sometime this season. But we care about her wellbeing and safety, we're not forcing a timeline on her. Last thing we want to do is over promise and under deliver"

I was set to ask why they would try to keep this all a secret, but I think I know. If they announce they’re training a new Ralphie six months ago, PETA shows up and starts making trouble. Announce it now, after it’s done, and avoid all that craziness.

This is ridiculous. Ralphie program literally has a single reason for existing: football. CU is not an agricultural or veterinary university. Failing to have a mascot trained for this year after the previous Ralphie was an embarrassment is inexcusable.
I didn't realize it had been this long but Ralphie V retired in November of 2019. Obviously they knew before that. So we are going on 6 years without having an acceptable replacement.

Total incompetence on someone's part. Everyone except AD leadership knew that Buffalo wouldn't run - tons of people were insisting they have backups, more than one ready.
For many this is a big deal and an important part of CU tradition.
They announced this today? Why the wait - keep fans from complaining?
Last year her lousy performance seemed like a bad omen. Feels double that for Friday.
Inexcusable and I am pissed.

I wonder if someone at CU thought training the buffaloes was inhumane

If the Ralphie program let's PETA drive anything they do in any way then their priorities need to be carefully reexamined.

I'm so pissed I actually decided it was healthy for me to breathe and write a blogpost about this. That's personal progress. Anyway, for those interested, here it is.

The buffalo is not terrible. Ember simply has no desire to be a mascot. I completely get that. I have no desire to represent anyone other than myself.

The selection process may not render the best candidate for the job, ultimately.

Tough to call a wild animal abandoned at birth a terrible buffalo. You should drive out to the ranch, hop out in the pasture and tell her that she is terrible to her face and then see if her friend Blackout is there and would not crush you. Ember was not the right choice, but word is the new one is feisty and ready to be a good runner once she is fully trained
