Some things repeat....

Like Rhule, Holgersen is owed a bunch of money and is getting paid to not coach the team that formerly employed him.
Like Rhule, the last stop was a total bonfire. Like Rhule, he was once a hot commodity.
For those wondering what I'm talking about, Holgerson was fired after being down to Rice 24-0. Rice. In year 5.
They were 2-7 in conference.
Holgersen was owed $15M over 4 years.

Nebraska hires a guy Named Matt who fleeced former employer for millions and is still getting paid.
Guy doesn't need to build anything, he's simply going to show up and get paid, make a few excuses and pay the yacht off.
Guy then hires another guy, this one named Dana, who fleeced former employer for millions and is still getting paid.

Pay us big money for something we did 10 years ago.... Thanks!

Bo Pelini did that to kNU when they fired him. I believe he had Youngstown State pay him a really low salary for his first few years because it was just being deducted from what *****braska owed him.

From what I recall, his salary was the norm for a FCS head coach but he still was able to fleece the Nubs.

Now...what has Scott Frost been up to lately?

Yes, but the point is that he could have commanded a top level FCS or moderate level FBS salary, both of which would have decreased the amount of cash the nubs had to pay him.

He chose to negotiate a contract at the exact average FCS salary because a $1 salary would likely have made it difficult to enforce his NU contract; instead, he chose the absolute lowest amount that was legally defensible.

It was a glorious FU to the nubs.

Re: Raiola transferring - not sure he's going to get much interest, especially NIL interest, after the year he's had. Financially it probably makes more sense to stay put. Having said that, I guess with Dad being a long time NFL guy and the alleged ~$1M he got this year at NU, it's not as big of a deal as getting out of Lincoln.

The value of not living in Lincoln has to be a big number

Maybe he makes a big jump next season, but hard to understand the hype. Outside of 2.5 games to start the season, he has not even been average.

Still has a lot to prove but he was enough in demand that he will still have plenty of options, and some good ones.

He has physical talent and teams believed he was smart enough. The only explanation for his failure to progress is bad coaching in a talent deficient program. What have Nebraska and Rhule done recently to dispel that line of thinking?

It may be that he was overhyped and not that good to start with, it may be that Nebraska has ruined him. I'm expecting that at least a few decent programs are willing to take a chance on a guy who was a 5* or 4* a year ago.

Considering that the majority of their fanbase is still living in an era almost 30 years ago when they were still relevant looking to success 10 years ago in moving forward.

A man can get himself a nice crib and unlimited runza meals in Lincoln for One Million Dollars, plus put some aside for a rainy day. I think the kid will stay put for next season; it likely beats the best offer he would otherwise get. He's got a higher ceiling than shown.

I don't disagree with that, but his floor could be pretty low if Nebraska can't put talent around him.
