Official CFP Selection Freakout Thread

Are you asking the odds of this happening? I’d say a healthy 25-30%. Perhaps more, especially if Louisville wins.

UMich nice recent win over tOSU, gonna whip Iowa
UDub wins the best conference and is 13-0.
Bama handed UGA its first loss in years in a close game and team mightily improved in home stretch.
UGA has not lost much at all and lost a close one in a CCG.

Texas gets a T&P note from the committee…

Yes, asking odds of happening.

More specifically, was wondering if you would price a bet you'd be willing to make.

I was fully expecting an Oceans Eleven "no bet" response.

No chance. Keeping a 13-0 conference champ out in favor of a Bama team that needed a Hail Mary to beat mediocre Auburn would be a travesty. For once, the SEC can canabalize itself
That’s fair. Who would be favored, Bama or FSU? UGA or FSU? OSU or FSU? Just truth to find the four best.

Yup, instead let's put in an FSU team that by the way needed to hold on against a mediocre BC team.

If FSU wins, you absolutely can’t punish an undefeated team because their QB got hurt. They will have won 2 games without him if they win tonight.

FSU win =

Michigan
Washington
Texas
FSU

FSU loss =
Michigan
Washington
Texas
Bama

I would be overjoyed at the SEC being left out

Alabama got a lot better as the year went along.
SEC is a better conference than the Big 12.
UGA would be favored against UT in a neutral site game.

Hot take with some plausability.

Agreed that the SEC is better than the Big 12 this year but that doesn't matter because UT beat Bama at their place. And Texas has closed out very well the past 2 weeks with big wins.

The big argument will be Bama or FSU if the Noles win tonight. FSU is 2-0 against the SEC with an impressive win against LSU but Alabama also beat LSU. FSU's win against a Florida team that isn't even bowl eligible doesn't mean a whole lot. Alabama was 3-1 against the top 25 coming into today and FSU was 2-1, both will get top 25 wins today with an FSU win. I just think Alabama's win over #1 Georgia will put them over the top.

I get it, the self fulfilling prophecy of the SEC being the best every year must continue!

You guys (Duff, UK) love this self-fulfilling prophecy phrase but how does winning big games on the field translate into a self-fulfilling prophecy? I've said that Texas should get in ahead of Alabama. FSU I just don't see, unless you want to take the easy route and just go with records. In which case let's talk about putting Libery in the CFP.

FSU is not the same team without Travis. Their backup is also hobbled.
Texas beating Alabama is why the scenario I outlined is an underdog, but not as much of an underdog as people think. This committee is not rational.

None of this CFP chatter will matter next year.
It will happen at the cut line, but it will be excluding flawed teams with flawed resumes instead of trying to split hairs on whether a minorly flawed resume is more important than the teams minor flaws.
