Official Construction Update Thread

At VT, we expanded the side lines and put down a firm surface at request of the networks because the previous configuration didn't allow full mobility of the sideline camera-boom-mobile (I'm sure there's a different name for that). They suggested we be on TV more if we did. I haven't taken note if the sidelines at Folsom allow for that, or if new technology has made the sideline width/surface issue moot.

There is not room on the sideline for the camera on the cart configuration. Thats the camera that usually gives you the tight shot of the QB at the line. The side line camera guys are shoulder "ENG" cameras. You'd have to take out a few rows to make enough room for that camera possible. There are other college stadiums that dont have the room for it either.

I wonder with more people comfortable watching from home, and tv contracts going up, if it won't be long before camera placement and technology takes priority over the stands in new construction.

Like what if they ringed the field with a giant camera track to get people a near field level 360 degree view that could move with the action. I know the spider cams kind of do this already, but just spitballing.

Based off of the more recent renderings, the top deck is in place. The left side is where the coach's office will be. Lots of work going on inside. Looks to be a crazy push though to get that building ready for move in by June 1st. Probably going to see it happen like the stands did in the corner, where it will just magically become complete in like 2 weeks.

Lots of new columns going in the past few days. It appears they have reached the bottom of the excavation, but I can't tell for sure. Also from driving around, the concrete exterior panels that you can see at the bottom corner of the structure, just past the tower crane, wrap around the entire bottom level already.

Impressive amount of work done, but a lot more still to go. The facility is going to be amazing.

Ok, an idea just hit me for a way to make this facility unique. I was thinking, every new facility has a barber chair, right? Maybe even a couple of them. What about a tattoo parlor? I'm not into the whole tattoo thing personally, but I know a lot of kids these days are.

Flame away.

Worst idea ever.

Good thinking. We should have a bank in the stadium.

Don't see the problem, they already have a massage parlor, yeah?

Looks like they are starting to set the precast facades on the east and, possibly, north faces. It looks, also, like they have some sort of insulation panels that are going in as well. Anyone know what the bit, white infill panels are on the east side? Looks like polystyrene.

White stuff looks like the protective wrap, not tyvek, it is coming off on the south side if you look at the stadium view. It is yellow underneath, so probably a rigid insulation board. Also going off of the stadium view, it appears they are putting it up as they complete a room on the interior.

Hard to envision them being ready to move in June 1 but I guess there isn't a whole lot to the inside since it is mostly offices and meeting rooms. I suppose the locker room can just be a big empty space since it will not be needed in full use until Fall camp.

Supposed to be finished by june 1st. They will need the locker room complete because once the move to the Champions Center happens, the gutting of Dal Ward will really start.

Cant wait to see what they did with DW. Anyone know what they are doing with the space from the "old weightroom"

That is the dining area, and club for boxes. Banquet space. There is an Olympic weight room, other teams, down in the current meeting space, below current weight room.

-Old weight room is a club for gamedays
-Old meeting room on B1 is becoming the weight room for other programs
-There is a bridge that will connect the two (confirmed that before they released the new renderings)
-Lots of progress that can't be seen from the cams
