Official CU vs. Baylor Game Thread

He was definitely like 2-3 seconds late. Almost like he was in disbelief
I think he was waiting for confirmation it was actually a catch. It’s hard to see from some angles that the ball didn’t scrap the ground. I think the delay is acceptable to get it right. The listener finds out soon enough without video to realize it’s a bit behind.

You know what makes it better? We were all only 5 years old when The Miracle happened. Long time ago.
You know what makes it even better, I was at both and got to witness 2 of these types of plays for my favorite team in my lifetime. So many great Buffalo memories and to add to it on Saturday was freaking amazing. Brought my best friend from high school out and he got to live a little CU magic. Unfreaking real how much I love (and at times hurt) being a Buffalo fan. These kind of moments make it truly an amazing ride not many get to be a part of.

This makes me want to send you a Phil-a-Gram for your birthday!

Honestly... That's a really ****ty call of an epic moment. I like MJ, but his calls are mediocre at best. Just close your eyes, listen to the call and imagine sitting there getting no confirmation on what has actually happened.
That reminded me a bit of Zimmer's call of the Miracle at Michigan.

The FOX TV guy (Connor Onion?) did a much better job.

I know edge has been a little disappointing so it’s nice to see Sam Okunlola here. BJ Green and Hayes have both popped a number of times, so hopefully we can just develop some consistency and get them to make more and more plays as the season goes on and as DC Livingston feels more comfortable with the identity of the defense.
Green had a really good game. First time this season I’ve seen him consistently behind the line wrecking havoc.

Just getting back into town after hiking and camping in the back country at Rocky Mt NP. That was ****ing awesome, but maybe the game was better. At the game after the OT coin toss, we were wondering if CU could have chosen the south side in OT since they lost the toss. Would have been a huge advantage to have the play on that end into the raucous student section. But I don’t the rule and am too lazy to investigate. Anyone know?

I had just explained to my wife, in great detail, how the coin toss would play out and what would have to happen for us to get to see OT down on our end of the field (south). Then, when we had the ball first AND they were playing on the north end, my wife looked at me and said, “what?”. I had no answers.

Honestly think superstition drove the choice.

Objective fact obviously had no say.

That being said, I can't argue with results.

So....

I know there are people who assert the attention and the draw of CU football is all about HCDS, but I think Travis Hunter is a big part. I could be wrong -- not trying to come across as over-confident on this one.
Oh yeah, I think people tune in to watch Travis, but IMO, it's mostly about either being a CU/Prime fan or hating CU/Prime. The benchmark for a very high ratings game is right around 4m, so the fact that CU (4-8 last year) vs Baylor (3-9 last year) got 3.6m is pretty outstanding is should probably represent the typical game for CU under Prime.

I think if there were any true assurances that Prime was going to be at CU 10 years from now, the SEC and B1G would be trying to get poach CU.

I don't think that has much impact early in the season. Last 4 weeks when Heisman race heats up and fans of sh!tty NFL teams start talking about who they want in the draft is when I think the viewership bump for Travis & Shedeur becomes more impactful. Right now, the driver is overwhelmingly Prime.

And only the hardcore prime fans. We are a long ways off from the 10 million per game we hit early on last year. The casuals won't come back unless our games start to mean something. It's crazy there are about 2 million+ hardcore prime fans.

Yeah. On the merits of "unranked Baylor vs unranked Colorado on network tv", that game should have pulled about 1.5M and, honestly, should not have been network while being lucky to draw 1M.

The lack of marquee opponents in the Big 12 is going to put a cap on viewership. Even ranked opponents like Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Utah will likely top out at around 5-6m and that's if CU continues to win. The 10m+ games require a national brand opponent.
I bet that if CU makes the B12 Championship Game that it pulls a surprise number - maybe even topping viewership for B10 and/or SEC.
