Official CU vs CSU Game Thread

Defense played well, but we got away with one tonight. Montez was bad. Play calling a little iffy as well. That said, we did pretty much everything I thought we couldn't do and still win. So I guess there's that.

Honestly, as far as disappointing wins go, that was about what we could have hoped for. Our defense played very well but there is still work to do on offense. The nice thing is the offense has loads of upside.

Props to the defense. Offense....I'll give you first game hiccups. Still, I can't tell if its Montez not seeing the entire field or poor play calling. My guess is a mix. Still, offense has too many weapons not to move the ball. Heck, they should just stumble forward for 3 yards a play

Congrats DJ Eliot. What a first game. Never thought the D would carry the O today. They played incredible. A lot more speed on the field than last year.

Callier is great on the pass rush and Drew effing Lewis was a man against boys. At the end of the game I was hoping they'd just line him up and blitz every play. He reminded me of one of the announcers.
What a huge letdown for the offense. What happened to Irwin? Is he out for awhile? Lindsay just killed it in the first half and then disappeared. Weird game but looks like we can win both ways this year.

Strange how the offense looked great in the 1st quarter, Montez was 8/9, then they fumbled and stumbled through the last 3 quarters. All of the csu 3rd down conversions - from 3rd and long - have me nervous.

Callier, worthington, Udofia all new bright spots. D much better than I expected...CSU is explosive.
Cannot call CSU Explosive! Senior QB with an overly talented Juco Receiver that should be on a Power 5 Roster. Only score 3 points against a rebuilt defense that was more athletic man for man.

Really, really pleased with that game.

CSU is a good team and will be atop the MWC. Holding them to 3 points (in their second game) was just really pleasant.

It was ugly, but the mistakes felt like mistakes made by new starters at key positions just getting the feel for things. A lot of that will be cleaned up as we head towards conference.

He didn't back **** up,

Honestly, if someone can show me where Montez was talking trash before this game I'll buy them a Bahktari dinner at the Cap Grill. Confident? Ok. Cocky? maybe. Did he produce? Meh. Talking trash? That's some Freddie shyit right there.

CSU receivers are scary. Felt like they did a lot more than ours did.

None had over 71. Many of their yards were Bortles-style garbage time fantasy football stats when we only rushed 3-4 on the last few drives. Gallup got ridden hard. Isaiah Oliver locked that sumbich up.

If that was coming from csu QB you'd call it talking trash.

But to appease you, he didn't back up his cockiness.

They had 3 plays taken from them. All three looked like bad calls to me, and I'm somebody who thinks that offensive PI needs to be called more often.

Only one was a bad call. The other calls were clear. CSU messed up & didn't execute. Penalties are a part of the game. Both teams got what they deserved.

I was forced to listen to the ram broadcast. They preached all night that the refs were one sided and the offensive pass interference just wasn't. Now I'm going to have to listen to that from CSU fans all year.

CU, if 850 dumps you for baseball, change stations. Frustrating, and mad at myself for not figuring it out before agreeing to take the boys camping.

His post practice presser a few days back called his shots against the defense. He backed it up the first quarter and then got to cocky with his sideline celebrating and pissed off CSU's average defense and then they were flat the rest of the way. A more seasoned leader would step on their throats and would celebrate after the game. That element of growth and leadership is a big deal this year after what I saw. If the D can play like that and we know the offense if potentially amazing, then it is up to Montez to immediately become the leader and not the CHEERleader!!!

It's a win. I think the next two games will give the team some time to get things ironed out.
