Official CU vs CSU Game Thread

Do we still not know why Irwin didn't play?

And I have followed daily updates all camp, I don't recall hearing Fischer may miss a game.

OK, time to address the elephant in the room. Anyone know the deal on Irwin? He was sorely missed tonight.. Someone said its a knee. Is that a knee few weeks out or knee call it a career? Feel absolutely terrible for the man. .

His post practice presser a few days back called his shots against the defense. He backed it up the first quarter and then got to cocky with his sideline celebrating and pissed off CSU's average defense and then they were flat the rest of the way. A more seasoned leader would step on their throats and would celebrate after the game. That element of growth and leadership is a big deal this year after what I saw. If the D can play like that and we know the offense if potentially amazing, then it is up to Montez to immediately become the leader and not the CHEERleader!!!

I watched the presser. He said he was confident the O could be effective. That's talking trash? Really? You want your QB to say "well, maybe if we're lucky we might be able to run a play here and there." Jesus F. Christ.

I'll give Syko this: his performance tonight wasn't super impressive by any measure and that o-line effort sounded lame. I couldn't watch the game so didn't see any of the sideline stuff to which you refer. If true, as you relate it, bad on him. But this before-the-game narrative that paints him as talking trash is crap.

Montez said there were a lot of weaknesses in the CSU defense and they thought they could take advantage of them. It's not talking **** at all but it's not being sports interview PC either

Also. any George Frazier sightings? I was expecting to see him out there 100% of the time.

Sefo brought so many intangible stuff. He was an unquestioned leader. This is the year Montez learns his lessons and starts to become the leader he is capable of.

So - the refs.

There's no two ways about it - that one linesman, the dude who threw all 3 OPI flags - was awful. Maybe the first one was warranted, because there were 2 flags thrown on that play, but the last two, especially Gallup's, were ridiculously bad calls.

Having said that, there weren't any other phantom calls. The hands to the face that called back that TD was a good call. Ticky tack, maybe, but it still happened.

I think Howell reported (maybe in one of his chats) that Fisher was dealing with a hamstring issue and was a game time decision. Obviously it wasn't well enough for him to go.

I feel pretty stupid because I thought maybe Adkins had really focused and was going to make something of his 5th year.

I thought Adkins played okay. The offensive line seemed to have stopped making holes when he got into the game.

Quick takes:
Callier is damn good. McCartney disappeared. Lewis is very athletic, flashed a bit, made lots of mistakes.
Udoffia gonna be fine, lots to learn tho, actively avoids making a wrap up tackle. DL got tired in 2nd half.
Injuries to OL starters will cripple this offense. OL was a mess for a lot of the game as a result of injury shuffling, it caused obvious lack of cohesion. Questionable offensive play calling continues at times. Got to be more efficient on 1st down. Montez is really good and really erratic.

That is good news on Irwin. Someone blurted out knee on page 1, and I was expecting the worst. Line will be much better with him when he gets back. Kaiser has some nasty to his game, but LT is not his position.
In the radio broadcast MJ said he was injured. I'm glad he isn't.

The lady next to me said she saw Coach McCartney before the game and that he didn't look good. Very sad to hear.
