Official CU vs. CSU Game Thread

the shirt part

Yeah, I've seen teachers wearing them on SM.

I googled it, the only one I can find that's similar, this one apparently you can get at Walmart:

If it happens in a game with like 4min left, after a turnover, when we are up 28-9 they can do it around the ref for all I care
The coach in me just bristles at that freedom to be stupid. Lost many soccer games because of red cards and buffoonery. But, we have such wise and focused players. Habits are habits

Is this correlated statistically with winning or losing? I've never seen that it is. I think it's probably a nothing burger.

Penalties make you lose, period
Someone mentioned Barnett being grouchy about the Buffs, and it has a lot to do with preaching discipline and then getting 100 yards of penalties

So far he seems to be the best DC hire we've had since Leavitt, but without the baggage.
For everyone here claiming HCP has no idea what he's doing and that he's not adapting very well to life coaching after JSU, you might want to level set a bit. And before you jump in and scream "Shurmur" or "Shedeur" you have to say that somebody said something to both before the CSU game and corrections were made. Maybe cool it on the Next HC thread in Barzil for a while. This thing ain't over yet.

That thread was idiotic

The cognitive dissonance of "he hires horrible assistants," and "Livingston is a rising star," is something else.

That seems more like coach truism than fact. I get why it would annoy the hell out of a coach.

You could argue about the degree, but it's similar to arguing about whether turnovers or incompletions "actually correlate with winning or losing". They are all things that literally hurt you in the game, so of course they negatively impact your ability to win. That doesn't mean that some teams aren't good enough to win despite them.

In the NFL (only stat I could find quickly), the team that wins the turnover margin wins the game 70% of the time. That's a very strong correlation. Penalties, otoh, don't have the same correlation from what I can find.

Turnovers and explosive plays are what correlate strongest. Notably, the entire Urban system was designed for those two things. He had a bit of success as a college football coach.

Sure, those have a stronger correlation. But caring about not getting penalized is not just an old-coaches-tale/truism.

Meh. Team was penalized a lot in two rivalry games in which the other team approached or exceeded us in total penalties and penalty yardage. The team had three penalties for 30 yards against NDSU, and obviously Coach Prime is not condoning the 15-yard penalty Hunter and others picked up against CSU if they’re running gassers for it. Also, the way the ref announced that penalty against the four players involved made it totally worth it. There is nothing to see here.
